[edit]Gran Torino WP help
[edit]Gran Torino presently links to a redirect on Ford Torino, which has no disambiguation that I see to Gran Torino (film). I have two questions and am too awful to break this into two sections:
A) Where would be the appropriate place to ask B, B) What's the appropriate wiki-fix?
98.169.163.20 (talk) 03:18, 14 January 2009 (UTC)
- The appropriate place for questions about how to use/edit Wikipedia is the Help desk. And someone has put in a disambig link. Dismas|(talk) 03:27, 14 January 2009 (UTC)
- I think we can also answer part B here. I'd just make Gran Torino into a disambiguation page pointing to both Ford Torino and Gran Torino (film), as well as anything else that seems related. Until recently probably most people who typed Gran Torino were looking for the car, but I expect that this changed as a result of the film, and we should change our structure accordingly. - Thank you both. Stu - there's only so bold I wanted to be (and I was looking for those curly brace tags). I did change the disambig link, since it was in the text body, which isn't typical and the redirect doesn't hop to that section. I realize that's probably better suited to the talk page, but since I brought it up here... 98.169.163.20 (talk) 03:38, 15 January 2009 (UTC)
- I'm not sure the disambiguation doesn't belong at Gran Torino, but I did revert the change to the disambiguation link on the Ford Torino article. The redirect points directly to the section, and I think it's more confusing to expect people searching for the movie to know that they need to scroll to the top of the article to find that they were redirected. --Onorem♠Dil 04:38, 15 January 2009 (UTC)

- Ah, it wasn't doing that for me; that was why my change. I'm using Firefox 3, no special build or options. 98.169.163.20 (talk) 15:17, 15 January 2009 (UTC)
Farscape
[edit]Can anyone tell me why there are only two episodes, with few exceptions, of Farscape on each DVD? So far, I've only encountered one disc that has three episodes on it. And that is a bit strange as well since they are episodes 19, 20, and 21 while the preceding disc in the series has episodes 18 & 22. The other hour long shows that I own/rented on DVD all manage to fit four episodes per disc. Grey's Anatomy even manages to fit five episodes on some discs. Dismas|(talk) 11:33, 14 January 2009 (UTC)
- I suspect you have the "Starburst Edition". See Farscape#DVD releases. I will have to check to see if mine are DVD5 or DVD9. --—— Gadget850 (Ed) talk - 12:07, 14 January 2009 (UTC)
- OK Starburst Editions are just issued as two discs, as opposed to the expensive box sets. Using DVDFab, I can see that each episode is 50+ minutes and each takes up 2978M. These are DVD-18 discs: essentially a double sided DVD-9. Thus, two episodes are 5.6G and three would be 8.9G, just beyond the 8.54G limit. The three episode disc must have one or two that are a bit shorter for some reason. --—— Gadget850 (Ed) talk - 12:55, 14 January 2009 (UTC)
- The starburst editions are dumb, they could put four episodes per disk if they wanted, or at least sell as box sets. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.43.88.87 (talk) 20:58, 15 January 2009 (UTC)
- They could certainly drop the quality by 5% and get three to a disc, but they would have to reduce it by 28% to get four per disc. According to the article, the boxsets did not sell because of price and were discontinued. --—— Gadget850 (Ed) talk - 23:46, 15 January 2009 (UTC)
- Okay, thanks. I have no idea what edition these discs are coming from. I get them through Netflix. Dismas|(talk) 23:11, 15 January 2009 (UTC)

- Speaking of Netflix and Farscape, why has the first season been off the catalog for years? —Tamfang (talk) 05:31, 18 January 2009 (UTC)
- Check the above link about DVD releases. Since Sony hasn't re-released Season One, Netflix has likely run out of copies that are still in a playable condition. The Farscape DVDs that I do get from Netflix usually skip at least once and don't look well taken care of. I've come to notice that movies and shows that would be popular with younger audiences don't hold up well. Movies that are more appropriate for older audiences seem to be taken care of a bit better. Probably due to kids leaving the discs laying on top of TVs, shelves, the floor, etc. Dismas|(talk) 03:24, 19 January 2009 (UTC)
Power Rangers
[edit]In which Power Rangers series was used for the last time the phrase "It's Morphin Time!"? David Pro (talk) 20:51, 14 January 2009 (UTC)
- From my own original research, the last series to use it would be Power Rangers: Zeo. Turbo started the trend of new phrases with "Kick it in to turbo!"Livewireo (talk) 21:10, 15 January 2009 (UTC)
Amy Lee's taste in music
[edit]In this YouTube video, Amy Lee of Evanescence said she enjoyed The Chronic. Did she mean Dr.Dre's The Chronic? --Crackthewhip775 (talk) 22:33, 14 January 2009 (UTC)
- Not viewed the YouTube vid yet, but are you sure she's refering to the song and not the subject of the song? --Jayron32.talk.contribs 04:22, 15 January 2009 (UTC)
- No, the video was the fan Q&A portion of the Yahoo! Nissan Live Set, where a fan asked her what other kinds of music she enjoyed. --Crackthewhip775 (talk) 05:14, 15 January 2009 (UTC)
- OK. Watched it. My guess is that it is quite likely she's refering to the Dre albums. Its easily one of the most influential album of the past 20 years or so, and it seems quite likely she is a fan of that one. I also don't see any other significant album or song or musical work named that. There was one by a Reggae DJ act named Yellowman & Fathead: [1] and one by a band named Chronic Future: [2], however I don't think either of these are as well known, and they also aren't called The Chronic, like the Dre album is. --Jayron32.talk.contribs 03:00, 16 January 2009 (UTC)
- Thanks. That's just what I was thinking, but I wasn't too sure that Amy would be into gangsta rap. (Not that there's anything wrong with that). --Crackthewhip775 (talk) 22:45, 16 January 2009 (UTC)
Venevision International telenovelas filmed in Florida

- I wonder if we will miss Eric when he is gone. Recury (talk) 20:27, 15 January 2009 (UTC)
- I'd miss Eric's permanent optimism, durability and his blue links. Julia Rossi (talk) 02:20, 16 January 2009 (UTC)
