[edit]Is it Jim or Adam
[edit]Everyone calls him Jim, But when he gets on the radio, he refers to himself as Adam. Why is that? 174.152.149.179 (talk) 00:47, 21 August 2009 (UTC)

- Or, how about a special fund we can donate money to. If people wasting your time with this idiotic abuse of the Reference Desk annoy you - donate to the fund. Then, the money can be used as a bounty. Anyone who ensures that the idiot never has the ability to access Wikipedia again wins the bounty. -- kainaw™ 16:13, 21 August 2009 (UTC)

- It doesn't annoy me enough to do anything about it. Once I caught on to his game, I started playing it with him. Google gives the answer quickly, so then it becomes simply amusement rather than actual assistance. But since the OP doesn't actually require assistance, it's no problem. Name of a movie
[edit]I can't remember any of the actors or any bit of the title, so I'm having no luck finding this movie that I saw maybe about 10-15 years ago. It's about 4 Irish streetkids maybe in New York or Boston, who are sent to a institute after killing/injuring a man. At the institute, they are physically/sexually abused by the guards and staff. Years later, 2 of them see a guard in a diner and execute him. They are put on trial, with another of the 4 as the proscuting attonery. But, he turns the trial of the 2 into a trial of the guards and staff at the institute. The 2 eventually they get off. Thanks Tobyc75 (talk) 02:23, 21 August 2009 (UTC)
What's the name for this posture?
[edit][2]. This posture has become a regular subject of photoshoots in Indian entertainment industry. Obliging actresses and enterprising photographers must be co-operating. Is there a name for this posture other than up-skirt? Tahnks —Preceding unsigned comment added by 117.204.88.98 (talk) 17:45, 21 August 2009 (UTC)
- Women have been sitting with their legs crossed for hundreds (if not thousands) of years longer than jerks have been trying to snap up-skirt photos. There is no justification for the assumption that the actresses are purposely posing for up-skirt photos. -- kainaw™ 18:45, 21 August 2009 (UTC)
- Yes- with no real evidence either way - I have to assume bad faith on the part of the photographer. It seems that it is assumed that people lose their right to privacy and respect when they become famous. The term "gutter press" is used in the UK to describe some journalists - in this case it could be taken literally - since to obtain that camera angle the photographer would be very close to the ground. Here in the UK a similar thing goes on, with no real merit.83.100.250.79 (talk) 19:53, 21 August 2009 (UTC)

Demonstrators in Mumbai (Bombay) set light to effigies of the Hollywood star, while protesters in other cities shouted "death to Shilpa Shetty"...The protesters said Gere insulted Indian culture by kissing the hand and face of the Bollywood actress...Public displays of affection and sex are still largely taboo in India...

- But you can see her underwear...this is a common theme in North America, where celebrities probably allow their underwear to be seen and photographed on purpose. It is almost certainly the case when they aren't wearing any underwear at all... Adam Bishop (talk) 13:19, 22 August 2009 (UTC)
- You see the edge of the outside of her knickers. Contrast that with the infamous Britney Spears situation, for example. Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots 18:18, 22 August 2009 (UTC)
Panty peek seems to be an expression with mainly Indian currency as a Google search suggests. I am not into the photography and it surprised me to see somebody say that the lensman would need to be very close to the ground to take this shot. In other words the subject can easily guess his intention.--Clericalmonk (talk) 10:18, 23 August 2009 (UTC)
- The question was what is the name of the posture, and the questioner ruled out "up-skirt" as a name for the "posture." I think posture can be taken literally or figuratively. The posture is literally seated, legs crossed, arms folded in lap. The posture is figuratively something like "attentive," or "engaged," as indicated by the tilt of the head, indicating listening to the speech of others, the hand in a semi-animated position, as if a point is about to be made, and the lips appearing to be close to speech, if not speaking. To User:68.245.127.68, please don't post any more riddles unless you genuinely need help on them. If that's the case you should say so.83.100.250.79 (talk) 19:48, 21 August 2009 (UTC)

- Of course, the actual answer is that Harvey is kicked in the nuts by Butch. But I agree, anymore obvious trivia questions should get erased post-haste. This is not really what the ref desks are for. --Jayron32 23:07, 21 August 2009 (UTC)

- If you want to post movie trivia quizzes, may I suggest going to the Internet Movie Database message boards. There are whole sections devoted to such games with people posting on them constantly. What you are doing can be fun (I've been to that board several times), and that is a more appropriate venue than here. — Michael J 20:38, 27 August 2009 (UTC)
