[edit]Sing Song Album from 1957 for The University of Texas
[edit]I have an album from the University of Texas at Austin that is the Sing Song for, I believe, Sorority's. Anyone know any history behind the Sing Song albums? The one I have is from 1957 and in near perfect condition. Know where it may be appraised? Was recorded at the Austin Recording Company and produced by Roy T. Poole. Back of album states its a, "musical tribute commemorating the University of Texas' 75th Anniversary. It was found in a closet and was wondering the value, if any. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

[edit]its the song from the land of chocolate scene from the simpsons season 3 episode "Burns Verkaufen der Kraftwerk" here is a video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=49lAgtSzh40&feature=related —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.98.64.15 (talk) 06:29, 6 April 2009 (UTC)
- It is music created by the show's composer Alf Clausen. On the album Go Simpsonic With The Simpsons it is titled "Land of Chocolate." Kotkitzo (talk) 09:29, 6 April 2009 (UTC)
- Everything goes in circles if you spend enough time on this desk. The land of chocolate music has been asked about before,Wikipedia:Reference_desk/Archives/Entertainment/2007_January_18#Fifties.2FSitcom.2FCartoon_Shopping_Music I did not know it was an original creation but it is obviously composed in imitation of Laurie Johnson's music particularly Shopping Spree and Happy Go Lively meltBanana 10:46, 6 April 2009 (UTC)
- Ah, you can quite definitely hear a bit of both of those pieces in it. Kotkitzo (talk) 15:02, 6 April 2009 (UTC)

A long wait
[edit]I've seen several films now that instead of employing multiple children to play the same character at different ages, wait to continue production until the child reaches the needed age. One of them is the film 11:11, but I saw another one on Wikipedia that I cannot remember the title of. Any people with photographic memory about? (I know it wasn't part of that well known series that followed kids as they grew up, it was a piece of fiction. - Mgm|(talk) 11:39, 6 April 2009 (UTC)
- Could it be Boyhood? Tomdobb (talk) 12:15, 6 April 2009 (UTC)
- Yep, that's the one. Thanks! - Mgm|(talk) 22:50, 6 April 2009 (UTC)
- BTW, the "well known series that followed kids as they grew up" starts with Seven Up!. I found the series to be refreshing and sometimes sweet, although not particularly effervescent. :-) StuRat (talk) 15:24, 6 April 2009 (UTC)
Does anyone know of other films made that way? Mgm|(talk) 22:50, 6 April 2009 (UTC)
- In The Fall (2008 film), the little girl lost some baby-teeth during filming; her scenes were shot in order so as to avoid continuity paradoxes. Does that count? —Tamfang (talk) 00:14, 7 April 2009 (UTC)
- You say in your original question that you've seen several such films. Could you possibly name them so that we don't repeat those that you are already aware of? Dismas|(talk) 06:27, 7 April 2009 (UTC)
- I forgot the name of Seven Up! series, but I named the others I know about. - Mgm|(talk) 08:38, 7 April 2009 (UTC)
- The sequel to Kill Bill is doing this aswell, aslong as all the actors are alive. The little girl who's mother Beatrix kills gets her revenge, or something. Sounds fantastic. 70.54.192.144 (talk) 09:44, 7 April 2009 (UTC)
- The Tarzan films of the 1940s provide a unique record of a physically fit youth growing into manhood. Beginning in 1939, the series shows Johnny Sheffield (as Boy) at the ages of eight, ten, 11, 12, 14, 15 and 16. Then, with Bomba, the Jungle Boy, Sheffield switched over to the Bomba series where he is seen at the ages of 18, 19, 20, 21, 22, 23 and 24. Pepso2 (talk) 10:46, 7 April 2009 (UTC)
Who said, "it's how you play the game?"
[edit]"It's not whether you win or lose, but how you play the game." Who said it and when? I've searched over 2 dozen quotation sources and found only one that even listed the quote, said it was anonymous, at about.com. My guess was that it was Arnold Palmer, but apparently not. It's odd to me that such a common quote, at least in Western culture, isn't more easily found. Also, it would be great if Wiki had a quotations collection. Thanks!Timcollardey (talk) 12:22, 6 April 2009 (UTC)
- I'm seeing Grantland Rice as a possibility after a quick search. --Onorem♠Dil 12:26, 6 April 2009 (UTC)
Thanks, and it looks like one of those original quotation sources that got edited by pop culture. "Ask not what your country can do for you..."Timcollardey (talk) 12:42, 6 April 2009 (UTC)
- Wiki Wiki, for your second (implied) question. (Incidentally, calling Wikipedia 'Wiki' makes the other wikis cry. Do you want to be responsible for cleaning the salt out of the servers?) 89.168.26.100 (talk) 18:23, 6 April 2009 (UTC)
Ali
[edit]Where can I download the film Ali starring Will Smith? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 121.246.174.130 (talk) 12:32, 6 April 2009 (UTC)
- Legally? I'd think there's a good chance iTunes has it, and Netflix might have it as an instant download option. The Reference Desk is generally not in the business of enabling piracy. — Lomn 13:15, 6 April 2009 (UTC)
- "Ali" is currently only available as DVD from Netflix, not streaming or Blu-Ray. StuRat (talk) 15:15, 6 April 2009 (UTC)
How to order custom built Jackson Guitars?
[edit]My name is Kumaresh Bhattacharjee. I am 20 Yrs Old and coming from New Delhi, India. Trying hard to be an aspiring guitarist, need some help from you guys. I love the JACKSON RANDY RHOADS model made by jackson Guitars. Saw the whole detail of the guitar on wiki and loved it. I find it even better than the jackson king v. The only issue is that we do not get jackson guitars here in india. Neither did i get any option on jackson.com to order one online. It woiuld be really appreciated if i get some help from you guys!!thegame (talk) 12:44, 6 April 2009 (UTC)
- This link here: http://www.jacksonguitars.com/customshop/specform/ is Jackson Guitars custom order website. Under the custom finishes section, they don't list the "Randy Rhodes" design specifically, but my guess is that the "Polka Dots" finish over a black body would give you the right effect. --Jayron32.talk.contribs 16:27, 6 April 2009 (UTC)
But it still doesnt explain how to get one for an indian address i cant even pay online using my credit card thegame (talk) 19:09, 6 April 2009 (UTC)
- In that case, http://admin.jacksonguitars.com/dealers/international_distributors.php lists several dealers for Fender equipment in India (Fender is the parent company of Jackson). It lists two distributors in India, with email addresses and fax numbers. You could certainly contact those distributors directly to dicuss obtaining the guitar you want. http://www.jacksonguitars.com/dealers/customshop.php lists contact information for custom Jackson dealers in the U.S. You could contact one of them if the Indian contacts don't pan out. As long as you are willing to cover the cost of international shipping, one of them may be willing to work with you as well. --Jayron32.talk.contribs 20:00, 6 April 2009 (UTC)
Help Regarding TV Reminder
[edit]I was on a website a few month back (tv website) and you could choose a certain episode from a tv-series and it would give you a reminder/informer that would tell you when the episode is next airing (or first airing) in your area. It gave me a link to post it as my signature on forums so that i could see it at all times. The thing is i haven't a clue what website i got it from or how to get it back. Can anybody tell me the website where i can do this and how to do it? Any help appreciated. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 92.13.148.195 (talk) 12:47, 6 April 2009 (UTC)

Alex Ferguson's Height
[edit]How tall is he? --DFS454 (talk) 19:23, 6 April 2009 (UTC)
- Depending on where you look, he is anywhere from 5'7" to 6 feet. -- kainaw™ 19:29, 6 April 2009 (UTC)
- Yes I have seen that reference before and on the talk page it has been proven to be false. I was wondering if there were any reliable sources that said how tall he is. --DFS454 (talk) 19:47, 6 April 2009 (UTC)
