Song
[edit]Hey, i'm thinking of a song but i can't think of it's name. The girl singing is talking to a guy, saying he acts like someone he's not, with lyric's like "Please promise me I'll never ever see you naked..." "Take off all your friendly clothes..." and there's a part in it about when they're riding in a car. Can you help me. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.130.144.181 (talk) 03:57, 2 April 2008 (UTC)
- I don't know the singer, it might be Shania Twain, and the lyric is actually "promise me I'll never see you fake it", if memory serves. 206.252.74.48 (talk) 17:02, 2 April 2008 (UTC)
- It seems to be Avril Lavigne's Complicated. And the lyrics are: "...never ever see you fake it" and "...all your preppy clothes." - Akamad (talk) 07:01, 3 April 2008 (UTC)
- Eh, knew it was someone else. Have to love the mondegreens, however. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 206.252.74.48 (talk) 20:40, 3 April 2008 (UTC)
- Indeed, now excuse me while I kiss this guy. - Akamad (talk) 22:06, 4 April 2008 (UTC)

Was it Carrey or Connery?
[edit]In one scene of Ace Ventura: Pet Detective, Jim Carrey does a Sean Connery-style James Bond impression saying something along the lines of "Swell party. Pity I wasn't invited." The problem is, I can't find any evidence that Connery ever said anything of the sort, let alone as James Bond. Did Carrey channel Connery, or were the scriptwriters just making it up? Confusing Manifestation(Say hi!) 04:13, 2 April 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks to 89.160.189.101 for pointing out that the exact quote is "Lovely party. Pity I wasn't invited." -- ToE 05:16, 3 April 2016 (UTC)
- If he was doing a Connery, he wasn't necessarily meant to be doing a James Bond. The Bond movies weren't the only movies Connery made. -- JackofOz (talk) 05:57, 2 April 2008 (UTC)
- The line could have been made up and the audience is supposed to just assume that he's trying to mimic Connery in general. Dismas|(talk) 06:20, 2 April 2008 (UTC)
That sounds more like Cary Grant to me. hotclaws 23:44, 3 April 2008 (UTC)
- Connery impression that sounds like Carey Grant? I've got to hear that and weigh in. I have the DVD, how far into the film is this quote. I also have every Bond film and seen then all many times. Right off hand that quotes not ringing a bell. But that does sound like something Connery as Bond would say. It's the kind of "I've got friends in low places" humor. (Yes, that was coined by J Bond, not G Brooks)--Wonderley (talk) 07:25, 7 April 2008 (UTC)
Sweet substitute
[edit]Is there anybody who knows the lyrics of "Sweet Substitute" (Jelly Roll Morton)? Please, I'm not english: I'm not able to find'em out myself. Thanks. Pequod76 from it.wiki. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 151.53.130.179 (talk) 10:29, 2 April 2008 (UTC)
- There seems to be a copyright on it, but listening to a sample gives something like this:
Sweet substitute baby, baby
Sweet substitute lord, lord.
She tells me that she's mine all mine,
does anything I tell her 'cause love is blind
She's got such loving ways, ways, ways, ...

Lee McAllister
[edit]Lee, who is know as the aberdeen assin, has just became a 2 time world boxing champion but when i put his name in the search i got no match. can you please tell me if you are planning on doing a piece on him because i know the public of scotland and especialy aberdeen would be very interested. many thanks regards Ross Middleton —Preceding unsigned comment added by 83.104.234.129 (talk) 12:23, 2 April 2008 (UTC)
- Ross, there really isn't a "plan" at all; normal people just like you write all the articles, mostly as-and-when they feel like it. Indeed, we don't seem to have an article about Lee McAllister - you can start one yourself by clicking the red link here. But I'd advise a little caution; people may question whether he's "notable" enough to warrant an encyclopedia article (it's a pretty low standard, but not every successful sportsman qualifies), not least because that World Boxing Union belt doesn't seem to be very widely recognised or highly regarded. So I'd recommend you ask on Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Boxing, who are experts on boxing and boxing articles -- Finlay McWalter | Talk 12:33, 2 April 2008 (UTC)
- If you can back everything up with sources you should be fine. Although I notice you're not registered; you can make an account or write an article and put it to the articles for creation team. Thanks for spotting that. weburiedoursecretsinthegarden 20:11, 2 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit]shipoopi. There was an episode in family guy during a football match, cheerleader sang and the word shipoopi could be seen on the field. What does it mean and wheres the funny part. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 193.220.225.250 (talk) 13:13, 2 April 2008 (UTC)
- See Shipoopi. Corvus cornixtalk 17:05, 2 April 2008 (UTC)
- Family Guy steals tunes and/or scenes from musicals all the time. Just the idea of them being in a musical is funny.--Wonderley (talk) 07:28, 7 April 2008 (UTC)
