BBC/Dr Who on hi-def disc?

[edit]

Are there any plans for the BBC to bring the new Dr Who to high-def disc? (I'd prefer HD-DVD as it's region free). Has the BBC released any other shows on hi-def? --72.202.150.92 05:11, 12 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It's unlikely as the new Dr Who isn't filmed in high def. There's no benefit (other than storage capacity) for an HD release. Torchwood, however, is filmed in HD and could conceivably be released in an HD format. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 65.91.98.102 (talk) 17:55, 12 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Can you provide some citation that Dr Who isn't shot on HD? It's certainly not filmed, but it's not using SD video either. It has the same visual artifacts as HD video during night time scenes, when blue LEDs are recorded and when characters are running on screen. --24.249.108.133 21:32, 12 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  • I recommend you hold of on buying a hi-def system. You don't want to be stuck with a HD-DVD system when eventually everything switches to Blu-ray. I seriously hope that last thing won't happen, but it's better to be safe than sorry. - Mgm|(talk) 20:27, 14 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for your opinion about Blu-Ray. But I have both systems and I prefer HD-DVD because it's region free. Hince, I want Dr Who on HD-DVd because I can buy it from UK retailers and play it in USA. --24.249.108.133 18:19, 15 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

TV shows based off of advertisments

[edit]

Aside from Cavemen (TV series), has this really ever been done? Di Gi Charat is the only other thing that I can think of.--SeizureDog 06:40, 12 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Well, not in exactly the same way, but Transformers, He-Man, and probably any other morning cartoon... Adam Bishop 08:11, 12 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Michael Landon's Jacket

[edit]

I recall reading an article about a man who had bought a leather jacket once belonging to Michael Landon at an auction. The man who bought the jacket requested that he be buried in it. I can't remember who it was for the life of me. Any ideas? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 130.126.211.89 (talk) 08:53, 12 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I don't know, but this raises a question of my own that I just have to know; "Why?" Beekone 15:35, 12 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
To create a puzzle for martian archaeologists, perhaps. —Tamfang 00:29, 13 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Egyptian Pyramids

How were the Egyptian Pyramids made? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 149.15.175.24 (talk) 18:09, 12 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Name of rifle used in Mission Impossible 3

[edit]

During the bridge scene, Tom Cruise assembles an advanced-looking assult rifle. Is that an actual rifle model or a fictional design made just for the movie? --24.249.108.133 21:37, 12 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Heckler & Koch G36Wayward Talk 22:31, 12 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Are you sure it's not an XM8 rifle? The G36 looks different from the movie (at least the Wikipedia photo does). --24.249.108.133 22:58, 12 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
No its entierly a G36. Eskater11 23:52, 12 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Confirm, same rifle, our armory has a few, and if you listen you can hear Rhames say, "Ethan, there's a G36 in the truck!" —Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.181.220.236 (talk) 16:34, 13 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

This is a bit of a thread-hijack, but I was wondering if anyone knew what gun Biel's character used after her airplane was shot down. I recall it being a relatively potent weapon, but compact. Coult it be the MP7? --Mdwyer 21:01, 13 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Are you talking about Stealth? --24.249.108.133 18:10, 14 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Yes. I forgot to link it. In the meantime, I've found some other sites that suggest that it was, indeed, an MP7. --Mdwyer 20:55, 15 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
