[edit]Wii-only browser games?
[edit]Do any browser games exist for the Nintendo Wii that cannot also be played on a PC using a keyboard and mouse? NeonMerlin 00:52, 5 June 2007 (UTC)
- I don't know of any. I guess they would make use of the motion sensing components. I can think of a few flash games which would make use of this quite well. I'm not sure how easy it would be to get flash to work with the wii controller inputs. Hmmm, definately something to look into. 213.48.15.234 09:54, 7 June 2007 (UTC)
The Admirable Crichton.
[edit]Hi,
I have been trying to trace film made some years ago called, "The Admirable Crichton" starring Kenneth More and Diane Cilento. I have had no success and having heard of your sterling work decided to give it a try.
With Very Best Regards
Michael J Pearce
- When you say "trace" the film, do you mean that you would like to obtain a copy on video or DVD? The film is listed on the reliable IMDB website here, but a quick search on Amazon draws a blank, suggesting that it is not currently available. --Richardrj talk email 07:29, 5 June 2007 (UTC)
- I had a look on eBay for you. Someone is selling a copy on DVD here and someone else is selling a copy on VHS (ah, the memories!) here. --Richardrj talk email 07:33, 5 June 2007 (UTC)
Poker terminology... history of flop, turn, river
[edit]Does anyone know where the words flop, turn and river come from? When did they appear in the game and why? Do they have any meaning? For example, is it turn as in "your turn" or turn as in "turn around" or something completely different altogether? Surely it had some sort of meaning or story when they chose the term? Does anyone know if other words used to be used? Thanks for all your help.--Sonjaaa 09:02, 5 June 2007 (UTC)
- Looking at river (Poker) it seems the river is to do with 'drowning' due to a person potentially losing the game on the final community card. Flop (Poker) doesn't say a reasoning but the 'three cards quickly turned over to prevent seeing a reaction to one card' makes me think it would be the 'flopping' of 3 cards over (like flipping). As for the turn-card I suspect this is mostly because that card can literally 'turn' the game. It is at a critical point in the game so I would expect it means turn in the sense of 'alter the outcome'. Much my own interpretation but there you go. ny156uk 19:04, 5 June 2007 (UTC)

French songs in US television commercials
[edit]Hopefully it's only a coincidence and not a trend, but I've noticed that there are two current TV commercials which use French songs in their ads, and I was wondering if somebody could help me figure out what the songs are. The first one is for Absolut Vodka, and shows a political demonstration, presumably somewhere in Europe. When the police show up in riot gear to stop the demonstration, a massive pillow fight breaks out. The second ad is for Pepsi, set in San Francisco, where a guy gets hit by a giant ball with the Pepsi logo on it an carrens all over the San Francisco streets like he's in a pinball game. Any help with the names of the songs, please? Corvus cornix 17:45, 5 June 2007 (UTC)
The Pepsi ad song is called Ça Plane Pour Moi by Plastic Bertrand. (70.135.113.200 03:47, 18 June 2007 (UTC))
- I can't directly answer your questions, but you might get some help at this website: What's That Called? --LarryMac | Talk 18:07, 5 June 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks, LarryMac, I've registered at that site and will post my question when I get my registration confirmation. BTW, I found the answer about the Absolut Vodka ad at http://adtunes.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=36986: It's "Boum" by Charles Trenet. Corvus cornix 18:31, 5 June 2007 (UTC)
Poldark
[edit]Masterpiece theater or PBS once ran a serial called Poldark. I cannot find this series anywhere, and I would like to obtain it. Any body know where I can get it? wsc
- It's available on DVD in Australia here. Depending on where you're from, there could be issues with getting it to play on your DVD player. I would also check eBay for VHS's or DVDs. Recury 19:37, 5 June 2007 (UTC)
- Oh wait, that's the BBC version. Nevermind. Recury 19:42, 5 June 2007 (UTC)
- It's the same series, I feel sure. --Richardrj talk email 20:49, 5 June 2007 (UTC)
- Masterpiece Theatre is a showcase for the "best" of the BBC. (I've seen one thing on MT that was not from the BBC, I forget what.) —Tamfang 04:34, 6 June 2007 (UTC)
- It's available at amazon.com. Corvus cornix 21:16, 5 June 2007 (UTC)
- But only coded for Region 2. —Tamfang 04:38, 6 June 2007 (UTC)
- Whoops, I didn't catch that. How odd. Corvus cornix 16:28, 6 June 2007 (UTC)
- But only coded for Region 2. —Tamfang 04:38, 6 June 2007 (UTC)
Porn
[edit]Does watching porn take up space on your computer..? PitchBlack 21:51, 5 June 2007 (UTC)
- Assuming you are a normal user: Yes, it does. It is saved in a cache on your harddrive. --Kainaw (talk) 23:31, 5 June 2007 (UTC)
- Not if you watch it on TV. - Zepheus <ゼィフィアス> 00:27, 6 June 2007 (UTC)
- As with every website you visit, your computer records what you looked at and when, and the address of the website. so yes it does take up spave. But you can clear your cache and internet history. Dep. Garcia ( Talk + | Help Desk | Complaints ) 14:29, 9 June 2007 (UTC)
Wiggle
[edit]A couple of months ago I remembered seeing a couple of Jello wiggle room commercials. The song that played in the background was sung by Ed Robertson from the Barenaked Ladies, but I don't know the name. Does the song have an official name, and if so, what is it?

What is the name of this cartoon?
[edit]I can't remember if it was an American or British cartoon, I watched it whilst younger in the 90's on British television. It was about kids as far as I can remember, not particularly young children. One of the characters was called Play, that's all I can remember. Any ideas about what it was? Thankyou
- I reckon it was Kid n' Play. Recury 00:54, 6 June 2007 (UTC)
