Gears of War: Jacinto Plateau
[edit]I was wondering, in the Xbox 360 game Gears of War, what parts of the game actually occur on the Jacinto Plateau? In the manual, it says that the hard granite bedrock is impenetrable by the Locust, yet in most portions of the game Emergence Holes pop up rather frequently. What's the deal?65.28.13.120 01:10, 31 January 2007 (UTC)Wild Irishman
The Greatest Wildlife Warrior Song
[edit]Hi I have a song that I am trying to get into the right hands. Do you know who > will take three minutes to hear it. > You never know maybe you will love it! > I have sold around 100 copies through friends and eBay....they all loved it. > 500 million followers Steve Irwin had. I have a song that could make a lot of > money if put in the right hands. > Please email me if your interested > Kind regards Michelle From Queensland Australia <email removed> —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 139.168.183.158 (talk) 07:47, 31 January 2007 (UTC).
- This is the wikipedia entertainment reference desk, not a place to submit your band's songs. If you're looking to promote your song, I'd suggest trying some other site. —Mitaphane ?|! 08:20, 31 January 2007 (UTC)
Old B&W Sci-fi film
[edit]This has been bugging me for a while. I've been trying to find the name of an old film. A rough synopsis: Humanoid aliens bring seven people from around the world, including two Americans, an Asian woman and a Russian solder, to their ship. There, they explain that their native planet is dying, and that they need to relocate to a new planet. They give each of the people special devices that, when activated, can wipe out all human life within three thousand miles of co-ordinates of the user's choosing. IIRC, they viewed it as a test, to see if the devices would be used for good.
Ending details In the end, the secret of the devices is unlocked, and the devices are used to specifically target those persons who are threat to world peace (for example, a Russian general is shown dropping dead, while a solder nearby is unfazed). World peace results, and the humans contact the aliens to offer them space to move in and share the planet. THE END. End spoiler
It's been about ten years since I last saw the film on TV, so the details may be vague and inexact. Anyone remember the film?--Drat (Talk) 14:45, 31 January 2007 (UTC)
- Hmmm, do you remember anything else, like style, quotes, etc? The description gives me more of a 60's (b-movie) feeling than 50's, if it was any newer, it probably wouldn't be in b/w. 惑乱 分からん 14:56, 31 January 2007 (UTC)
- If you don't have any luck here, the IMDb has forums dedicated to this very purpose. Cyraan 19:14, 31 January 2007 (UTC)
- This Island Earth seems to vaguely fit your description, and it's what I keep finding with my Google searches. — Kieff | Talk 03:02, 1 February 2007 (UTC)

- A user on the IMDB forums found it! It's The 27th Day.--Drat (Talk) 13:46, 1 February 2007 (UTC)

PC Game.
[edit]Hello! Thanks in advance for answering this.
When playing 'Rise of nations' for the PC is there any way to put into windowed mode rather than playing it full screen?

- If it uses Direct3D (or something, I forgot which protocol), 3D-Analyzer can force window mode, amongst other things. But I only tried using it once, not sure how well it works. --Wirbelwindヴィルヴェルヴィント (talk) 04:24, 1 February 2007 (UTC)
- Is there a rise.ini or rise2.ini file in C:\Documents and Settings\(YourName)\Application Data\Microsoft Games\Rise of Nations\? If so, open it and look at it. It should have an entry: FullScreen=1. Change it to FullScreen=0. If the entry isn't there, try adding it. Also, consider adding window size by adding the lines Windowed Width=1024 and Windowed Height=768. --Kainaw (talk) 13:11, 1 February 2007 (UTC)
