[edit]Stone, by Stephen J Cannell
[edit]Hi there. Is there anybody out there with details on the Stephen J Cannell detective programme called Stone? It featured Dan Stone who was a novelist but also a homicide detective in the LAPD. I think it was on TV in 1980 (I was only 10 at the time, so my memories are not very clear). Specifically, I wanted to know who the star was and who did the theme music for the show. I vaguely recall that it sounded like "The Gypsy" from Deep Purple's Stormbringer album.
Many thanks.
- You can see for yourself at IMDB [1]. It says the star was Dennis Weaver, with music by Pete Carpenter and Mike Post. Clarityfiend 02:05, 10 February 2007 (UTC)
Punjabi comedian
[edit]This question is for Punjabis only. What is the name of this comedian whose sidekick acts like a old man and sings the songs? HIs name is Tinnu or something?
- I'm going to break your rule by trying to answer your question even though I'm not Punjabi... Could it be Tinnu Verma or Tinnu Anand? Dismas|(talk) 04:29, 12 February 2007 (UTC)
Renaissance men on television
[edit]I'm trying to compile a list of television characters who are sort of like the "renaissance man." I'm looking at characters along the lines of Lisa Simpson and Jean-Luc Picard. Can you guys think of any more? Examples from movies might also be helpful. - Pyro19 11:52, 10 February 2007 (UTC)
- Det. Robert Goren from Law & Order: Criminal Intent, Gil Grissom from CSI, and Dr. Samuel Beckett from Quantum Leap (seven doctorates!) immediately spring to mind. Does Sherlock Holmes count as a TV/movie character? Natgoo 17:25, 10 February 2007 (UTC)
- Maybe Jonathan Higgins or Josiah Bartlet? Speaking of Picard and Sherlock Holmes, Data explored human Renaissance qualities too, one of the characters he emulated was Holmes. David Brent for a wannabe Renaissance man.
- Oh man, MacGyver check out this list of the problems he solved. Nice. --Cody.Pope 03:53, 11 February 2007 (UTC)
Command and Conquer 3
[edit]Hi. I was wondering if there will be a Command and Conquer 3 version for the mac? Does anyone know? And will it be a universal binary? Thnks in advance! And it would be nice if you could post the answer on my talk page.--Ryan 16:24, 10 February 2007 (UTC)
Heritage of these people
[edit]What is the heritage of Brendon Urie and Billie Joe Armstrong?? And by heritage I don't mean american I mean like countries of origin
- According to the article, Billie Joe "is of English, Scottish, Irish, Italian, Dutch, and Cherokee descent". There's no citation, however. 惑乱 分からん 19:14, 10 February 2007 (UTC)
- I can't answer your question, but I think the word is ethnicity rather than heritage.--Shantavira 08:51, 12 February 2007 (UTC)
80s rock song about a young girl
[edit]There was this 80s song by like, Foreigner or Journey or something where the lyrics are this guy trying to seduce a very young girl. I'm trying to tell someone about this song, but I can't figure out what it's called. I don't recognize it listed on either of those articles. Am I just making it up or was there really a song? Ziggurism 19:33, 10 February 2007 (UTC)
- The description is extremely vague. How young was the girl? 惑乱 分からん 20:20, 10 February 2007 (UTC)
- Hot Child in the City? I'm pretty sure that's it, and if so don't feel bad; I thought it was by Aerosmith or Kiss. LYRICS. Anchoress 20:25, 10 February 2007 (UTC)
- There's also Sexy and Seventeen, which might actually be it because HCitC is actually 70s come to think of it. Anchoress 20:27, 10 February 2007 (UTC)
- Could it be My Sharona by the Knack? 1979 was pretty close to the '80's. Shuttlebug 01:42, 17 February 2007 (UTC)
- How about "Into the Night" by Benny Mardones. The first line is "She's just sixteen years old, leave her alone they say." The chorus, "If I could fly, I would take you up high and show you a world you've never seen"—
Is Ed Shearmur's music score for Epic Movie available anywhere (CD/download)?
[edit]Widely panned spoof Epic Movie features some very neat homages to/rip-offs of recent film scores, including Narnia, Harry Potter and Pirates of the Carribean, credited to composer Edward Shearmur. However, the soundtrack CD on Amazon etc seems to include only an assortment of mediocre pop songs. Does anyone know if a recording of the score will or has been made available in any form? Thanks. -84.69.45.120 20:01, 10 February 2007 (UTC)
