Auto-synchronizing files in different computers

[edit]

Hello! I have a Notepad++ file in a Windows laptop.

I have the same file in a Linux laptop (although I open it with a different editor because Notepad++ doesn't work on Linux). Is there a way to make the Linux file automatically synchronize with whatever changes happen in the Windows file? For example, I remove a line or add a new one in and the file in Linux gets updated accordingly.

Thanks in advance! :) - Klein Muçi (talk) 01:22, 16 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Update: Was able to solve everything with Syncthing. - Klein Muçi (talk) 02:41, 16 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

ms word comment settings

[edit]

Hi, I use MS word for work and believe me I wouldn't if I didn't have to. Previously, I had it worked out ok, and now for some reason the behaviour of the comments feature has suddenly changed. Basically, I want to be able to edit by highlighting text, choosing "add a comment" from the contextual menu that pops up, and typing the comment directly into the left hand side "review pane" that I keep open. Then I want the comment author to appear in square brackets with the text, as in "[A24]," where 24 is the number of the comment, 24th comment by person "A". This is what I had before. Now, suddenly, I get comment bubbles popping up, like in Acrobat reader, on the right side. Nothing I do turns them off permanently. If I switch them off, the moment I try to add a comment, they pop back up. Firstly, I can only add the comment in the bubble (I can edit it later in the reviewing pane), and secondly, the comments bar on the right stays open, and won't stay closed (I have to close it directly each time). Furthermore, under the previous setting, the text associated with the comments was in red highlighting, useful and easy to follow. Now it is in grey highlighting, and only turns on when I also have the right-pane comment window open. I want the comments bar on the right to stay closed permanently, with comments as before. Any solutions? Thanks in advance, IBE (talk) 02:56, 16 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Microsoft recently changed the way comments work in Excel; the things that were called comments are now called "notes" and the new things called "comments" are for threaded conversations. So, my first suggestion was for you to make sure the feature you want hasn't been simply renamed, but I sure don't see "notes" in the Word toolbar and searching for recent changes to comments in Word only turns up stuff from a year ago, when "modern comments" was introduced. If that's the change you're referring to, there is a workaround discussed here, waaaay down near the bottom of the page in the FAQ section (second from bottom). I rarely use Word and am not familiar with their commenting, so hopefully this isn't wildly off the mark. Matt Deres (talk) 14:50, 17 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Matt Deres: That's in fact quite informative, because the comment (dys)functionality I have now in fact seems clearly designed for threaded comments. So I think it may well be that sort of a change. IBE (talk) 14:36, 19 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Although the link isn't working sadly. I just get a blank page. IBE (talk) 14:37, 19 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@IBE - the link to the support page? That's odd. Well, it's titled Using modern comments in Word at the main support.microsoft site, so maybe you can search and get to it some other way? Matt Deres (talk) 20:30, 19 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Downloading a blob URL Video/movie locally in my computer

[edit]

Hello Fellow Wikipedians and computer enthusiasts. May I know how to download a blob URL video? A blob URL looks like a URL except it could not be entered into the search bar. Example format is blob:https://example.com/xxx . More info here: https://www.reddit.com/r/Piracy/comments/pxz304/how_to_download_movie_websites_with_blob_url_and/ Now when I am trying to download, it does not show m3u8 in its Network like what google shows me. In fact anything I googled or searched has no solution when downloading blob URLs. Please reply to me if you also need more info. Thanks. --Likhasik (talk) 14:34, 16 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

According to the article Blob URI scheme, you need to know the UUID (aka GUID) that references the blob/movie at whatever site you are downloading from. This is not something that can be guessed from the name of the movie. --Verbarson talkedits 21:17, 16 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Verbarson: Hello. I am trying to download from this site. https://www.reddit.com/r/Piracy/comments/q50524/help_in_downloading_some_short_films/
I can't understand what to do by what the guy explained here. Someone even has downloaded it and sent me the video however I want to download it myself. Please help me here. --Likhasik (talk) 04:05, 17 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Have you tried https://www.tubeoffline.com/ ? I haven't used it on reddit, but is has worked for me on otehr sites. --TrogWoolley (talk) 12:29, 17 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Apologies if I'm misunderstanding the question, but I know Reddit has a bot that allows you to save a video that is in a post (u/SaveVideoBot although to my knowledge it's currently blocked from Reddit but the website it uses still works). ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 15:03, 17 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Blaze Wolf: @TrogWoolley: Have you opened the link? The reddit link I have sent here has no video or any. It is a text post with a link that has a blob movie. This is the link within the post in question: https://ifcinema.institutfrancais.com/en/alacarte . I am asking if you can download this and also the method done. In the reddit post, someone has offered help but I cant decipher what he is saying. I am not much of a techie but can anyone help me here. Thanks for the response BTW. Please ping me when replying. Thank you --Likhasik (talk) 06:16, 18 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
