How do I check if I am hacked?

[edit]

See: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=MobileCoin&oldid=1028549534

My text just before finishing got copied and all citations became 2 snowman, it's creeping me out. Does the citation somehow weirdly renders into snowmen? --Greatder (talk) 16:27, 14 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I do not see snowmen in any revision. Did you see them in the rendered text and remove them before publishing your changes? There is no general test of having been hacked, and intruders use increasingly sophisticated techniques to evade detection.[1] But Wikipedia citations changing into snowmen is not a common sign.  --Lambiam 22:20, 14 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
FWIW, I do see the snowmen (U+2603) in this revision, in the Criticism section: Special:Permalink/1028545152. I sincerely doubt it is a result of being "hacked" however. CodeTalker (talk) 23:30, 14 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Greatder, how about this? Hyphen minus turns into emoji-snowman Elizium23 (talk) 22:26, 14 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Elizium23 Yeah, yeah! something like that but I think somehow there was some type of dash &dash or &nbsp, but the citation suddenly got copied and the one/two dash became two snowmen. I published it and felt I published something wrong or duplicate, then I checked to find this. Thanks for the link, it's a relief it might have been a wiki glitch :) --Greatder (talk) 04:28, 15 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Greatder, good to hear, good good. It's unfortunate about WikiMedia's mobile apps, they are really not usable for anyone for anything. See Wikipedia:Mobile communication bugs for more information about that. Our best recommendation is to use the website, and to insist on the Desktop view (very bottom of page has a link, when you're mobile). Elizium23 (talk) 04:34, 15 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
