thermal paste

[edit]

what happens if you dont put thermal paste on CPU — Preceding unsigned comment added by Vapze (talkcontribs) 09:55, 7 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

This site explains why thermal paste is generally recommended.
In short, the CPU could overheat. Ian.thomson (talk) 10:06, 7 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
It starts running hotter over time. Eventually at high enough temps thermal throttling starts kicking in and your computer starts running slower at high load. Higher temps cause wear on the CPU meaning it will fail sooner. Thermal paste is much, much cheaper than a new CPU. You also eventually need to replace the paste as it dries up and loses efficiency over several years. 93.136.88.203 (talk) 22:19, 9 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

US tax software for married - file separately or jointly

[edit]

Is there software for US income taxes for a married couple that will tell you whether it is better to file jointly or separately? It should be easy to do, but TurboTax doesn't do it. Bubba73 You talkin' to me? 17:17, 7 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Try creating three returns, one joint, one for each partner married separately. Robert McClenon (talk) 15:54, 9 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I knew that could be done, but it would be trivial to have a program do that for you. TurboTax asks who has each W-2 and each other thing, so it could calculate it both ways in a fraction of a second. Bubba73 You talkin' to me? 02:16, 10 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I have not tried this personally, but can you fill out all your information as if you were filing jointly, and then go back to the initial section and change your selection to separately? shoy (reactions) 15:07, 12 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
