Coloring tabulation characters in Notepad++?

How could I make all tab indents in Notepad++ colorful (say, pink)? This would help me distinguish tabulations from spaces.

I don't know of any way to change the background color of whitespaces, but if you click on View->Show Symbol->Show White Space and TAB you can show a dot on spaces and an arrow (pointed to the right) on tabs. You can change the color of those in the style configurator.
