Wikipedia:Picture peer review/Juche Tower

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The image is very impressive, with great lighting and a nice reflection in the water. It's a beautiful image with no "distractions" - when one looks at the picture, they are really only going to notice the tower unless they think about it. The picture appears on Juche Tower, Pyongyang, North Korea, and Politics of North Korea. The photo was taken by Martyn Williams and is released under the CC license. - zappa.jake (talk) 05:08, 24 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I've just added the picture to Tower and Monument as well. -zappa.jake (talk) 05:15, 24 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Comments:

  • Great shot, but it's too small. The minimum size is 1000 pixels (with exceptions for poor quality, but historically important photos). If you have a high enough resolution version I think that this photo could be a FP. --Pharaoh Hound 13:00, 24 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • Better provenance would help too, for licensing. It appears to have originated from another website, perhaps [1], but I don't see any mention of the claimed CC license on that page. Davepape 02:45, 25 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
    • You're correct. The images are the same - someone took it from someone else. I could tell so by comparing the lights that were on in the background buildings. Anyways, do we know for sure that Wikipedia took this from the site, not the other way around? -zappa.jake (talk) 03:51, 25 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

From zappa's talk page:
I just ran across your peer review for the North Korea image I uploaded. I remember the copyright information being located in the authors personal section/page area, but I may be wrong as I cannot find it now! Oddly enough, another (high-quality) NK image I uploaded -with written permission from a its author- was deleted a week or so ago. It was of the Arirang Festival, a massive event which would be impossible in any other county. All the best! Myciconia 04:04, 4 July 2006 (UTC) [reply]
