Wikipedia:Peer review/Japanese fire-bellied newt/archive1

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I've listed this article for peer review because this is my first time preparing to nominate a FAC, and while I'm feeling optimistic, I also want to be positive that it's good enough. I definitely don't want it failing, so I just would like to see if it's close or if it still needs significant work. It's amazing how much unused information about this creature there was when I began rewriting the article, as you can see from its history, but most of it has been incorporated by this point.

@An anonymous username, not my real name: Before nominating for an FAC, I suggest that this is nomianted for GAN first, as that will give additional comments. Here are some comments after a quick skim:

  • Etymology should be expanded. How did this species get this name? Who named them?
    • Since common names aren't officially assigned, I'm afraid it's not possible to track down the exact origins, and I've tried. The names themselves are pretty self-explanatory, which is probably why no source describes their origin. I don't think this is a requirement anyway, as FA smooth newt doesn't mention common names at all.
  • Try looking for more sources at WP:LIBRARY, Google Scholar, and your local library.
    • About what, specifically? I really dug deep for the ones given, and I'd like to know what sort of extra information should be added at this point. All the sources given are generally quite reliable.
  • Avoid one-paragraph sections by expanding the sections or merging the sections together.
    • If you specifically mean full sections, the only one paragraph one is the etymology one, which I'll happily merge. If you also meant subsections, then let me know and I can see about those as well.
  • Suggest archiving websites by using IABot
    • Good idea, I will get on that.

I hope this helps. Z1720 (talk) 02:13, 1 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
