Wikipedia:Peer review/Guinea pig/archive1

I wish to make this article into a Featured Article, if anyone can give me some advice on this it would be much appreciated. --Sunfazer | Talk 13:46, 17 May 2006 (UTC)
A few points:
- The article needs references, preferably inline citations using m:Cite. It looks as though some of the external links may be used as references, so they should be converted (see WP:CITE). Trim the rest of the links using the criteria given by Wikipedia:External links.
- The lead should be expanded (see WP:LEAD).
- When using words from other languages, put them in italics rather than quotes.
- I may be wrong, but I don't think "pigginess" is a word.
- The first subsection of Domestic guinea pigs needs tidying as it is a cross between a list and prose.
- Subsequent subsections of Domestic guinea pigs read like a how-to. These need rewriting or heavy copyediting to give a more encyclopedic tone.
- The section about scientific research should be expanded. How many are bred for scientific research? The article states that they are no longer commonly used in research - when were they used widely? Consider adding the sentence about the use of the term "guinea pig" to this section.
Hope this helps. Oldelpaso 18:45, 17 May 2006 (UTC)
A very minor point on a pretty decent page, but the picture formatting leaves a lot of white space in the text on my browser... try spreading the photos out between more categories to counteract this.
