Wikipedia:Peer review/Cornell University/archive2

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
  • Most of the old problems plaguing the article have been recently solved, and the editors could use some new direction and somebody else's opinion. Thanks!

  • Fixed - The stub section in a summary section is completely out of place
  • Duplicate - Subarticle History of Cornell University has no references and is probably summarized too much.
  • Fixed - WP:FOOTNOTES should not have spaces before themselves, and be placed after punctuation.
  • Fixed - several {{citation needed}} templates
  • Fixed - One-paragraph sections are frowned upon
  • Fixed - Cornell University Press is shorter than the section in this article instead of using WP:SUMMARY style. It should be either merged or expanded.
  • Noted - Generally, most subarticles do not appear to follow WP:SUMMARY. I'd expect them to have at least as much citations as their corresponding sections.
  • Fixed - Reducing links to a single target would be a good idea...
  • Fixed - "Cornelliana" section needs citations
  • Fixed - Another {{sectstub}} under "Research", a section that looks completely out of place, it should probably go under "academics".
  • Fixed - the list under "International programs" can probably be prosified
  • Fixed - there are oddly few wikilinks in the "Academic units" and "Cornell University Press"
  • Fixed - Footers are to be put at the complete bottom of article.
  • Not planned - I would consider reducing the size of the hugeass {{Cornell}}, but that is no requirement.
Right now, these are the issues that jump most at me. Circeus 05:57, 22 May 2006 (UTC)

  • Fixed - Per WP:MOSNUM, there should be a no-break space -   between a number and the unit of measurement. For example, instead of 18mm, use 18 mm, which when you are editing the page, should look like: 18 mm. (most already have no-break spaces, but some are missing here and there)
  • Fixed - Quotations, like the one in the lead, need citations
  • Fixed - This article is a bit list-weighty; in other words, some of the lists should be converted to prose (paragraph form).
  • Fixed - After a year, for consistency, a comma should either be used throughout the entire article or not used at all.
  • Fixed - Dates should use either 0 or 2 commas, depending upon the subject of the article; American-related articles should use 2 commas, while British-related articles generally used 0 commas. For example, for two commas: In January 15, 2006, this and that happened, while for zero commas, use: In January 15 2006 this and that happened.}}
  • Fixed - Please link the first occurrence of a dollar sign ($) to United States dollar.
  • Duplicate - There are a few sections that are too short and that should be either expanded or merged. For example, Research.
  • Fixed - Images need proper image copyright tags and source information
  • Fixed - Images with fair use tags need fair use rationales - please see WP:FUC.
  • Fixed - Why are References and External links using level 1 headings? Please move them down to == level 2 headings.
