Hopefully a precedent among character articles. Was just approved of GA status, and we're thinking about a FA push (or at least A-class). Axem said he'll break the ice by finishing a copyedit of the old information (most of it was around before this project began). I'll give him a hand, and then hopefully we can get another copy-editor. — Deckiller 23:46, 20 March 2007 (UTC)
- Comment I'm not a videogame player, so I'm not familiar with the practices used in those articles, but wouldn't it be better to have screenshots of the characters instead of cover art? I would think that would be a more accurate representation of their appearance, since presumably they don't look like that in the actual game. Additionally I would think there should be some screenshots in this article. Quadzilla99 02:50, 21 March 2007 (UTC)
- Good, even screenshots for all the characters are difficult to come by. There are some FMV animation depictions, but it will lead to inconsistent depiction. There are a few screenshots available for minor characters. — Deckiller 03:38, 21 March 2007 (UTC)
- Can't people create them themselves? Like I said this is just a minor concern from an outsider to these kind of articles so don't get too concerned about it if it's not possible. I would just think that if they could be obtained somehow screenshots would be more accurate. Of course there may be some reason to use the cover art I'm not aware of. - I believe the decision to use the cover art was becaus it all came from one source, it was all the same size, and it was pretty close to the FMV depictions. I might be able to take a couple early game screenshots, since I have a PS1 emulator that allows me to play my playstation CDs on the computer. Also, in looking at the minor characters section, do you think a couple screenshots should be added there? — Deckiller 04:08, 21 March 2007 (UTC)

- I added a couple FMV and screenshot images, all sourced and FURed. However, I don't want to add more, because the fair use complainers might have a field day at FAC. — Deckiller 04:29, 21 March 2007 (UTC)
- You're right about the number of images, I was more talking of replacing all the images with screenshots. However, I hadn't realized how old this game was. The graphics in the screenshots might be unattractive and not really give a good representation of how their faces are meant to look. I don't know if that should be a concern though. Really when you get down to it the whole thing is probably fine. One or two other minor things. In the description of Seifer Almasy (among others), there's a spoiler or two. Not sure how you want to approach that. The game is so old I doubt many people are going to be playing it for the first time. I guess the question is: How many potential first time players there are for this game? You would know that better than me. Also while the prose is generally exceptional (really nice work there), maybe the General Carraway section could use a little tweaking. The second to last sentence seems awkward. - Thanks, and I agree about the screenshots (it will be hard to depict the characters with screenshots). Our WikiProject doesn't use spoiler warnings (one of the few that doesn't). As for the prose, neither Axem nor myself have worked on the minor characters section yet. All I've done is trim those sections without worrying about the prose yet. He's doing the first round of copy-editing for this one, and he's about halfway through. I'm at roughly the same spot with a second pass. Hopefully we can get the prose up to standard before FAC. Thanks for the comments. Off topic, I've noticed that I've been writing talkpage comments in shorter sentences recently. I guess that's a learning experience right there. — Deckiller 05:31, 21 March 2007 (UTC)
- One more minor comment. Might be helpful to add the release date of the game or the videogame system in the lead. It's already covered in the game's article but it might be helpful to people like me. I assumed it was a 2005 or 2006 game. Quadzilla99 05:53, 21 March 2007 (UTC)

- Comments Wow. Just wow. This is probably the best looking characters page I've come across on Wikipedia. Everything is handled really well and conveys the information excellently. Nomination for Featured Article status would appear to be a formality at this point. Cheers, Lankybugger 20:41, 21 March 2007 (UTC)
- Thank you very much. — Deckiller 20:54, 21 March 2007 (UTC)
- Comment I'm going to have to agree with Lankybugger, this is a very well written character article. It was an interesting read and kept to the point. I've noticed a few pictures have been added, they add to the overall effectiveness of the article IMO. Darthgriz98 23:51, 21 March 2007 (UTC)
- Comment I'm late in coming, but I wanted to add my observations. This page looks fantastic. It is very well sourced, and has a very clear organization. I have been doing some work on the horridly unencyclopedic, unorganized Characters of Final Fantasy IX that is similar in intent to this, and I think this article would be a good template to use for my work there. In fact, this would be a good template for all "Characters of so-and-so-game" articles. As well I agree with Lankybugger, Nom for FA would be mostly a formality at this point. --—ΔαίδαλοςΣΣ 20:50, 23 March 2007 (UTC)
