I'm looking to nominate this article to FAC soon. As I have no previous nominations and this would be my first one, I would like a peer review to see if this would hold a chance within the criteria.

[edit]I'll try to take a deeper dive, but my immediate comment is that this seems like a very short article. Shortness is not a problem per-se at FAC, but WP:FACR 1a says "comprehensive: it neglects no major facts or details and places the subject in context" Some subjects are rather niche topics, so there just isn't that much that can be said and comprehensive can be satisfied without a lot words. I suspect many of the reviewers at FAC will want more for a topic like this, however.
Also, I suggest you drop a note at WT:MILHIST; that's probably a good place to find qualified reviewers for this.
- Yeah, I have had this pointed out before. I have requested a couple of books to help me with this topic that I am waiting to be scanned and returned. Once I get that, I can look into filling any gaps there may be. Not saying there is, but at least then I will know for sure. TheBritinator (talk) 23:36, 22 August 2024 (UTC)

[edit]Never heard about this before, looking forward to reading and will give some non-expert feedback Mujinga (talk) 20:05, 7 September 2024 (UTC)
- RoySmith made some good points above. @TheBritinator right now I don't think this would become a FA, but in time with more work it could. One thing i would suggest is to read / participate in FA reviews so you get your head round the standard required. I don't thnink it benefitted from the best of GA reviews, but FAC is a much more stringent process. Hope the comments below are useful, good luck with the article! - I've been working on it. Thanks. TheBritinator (talk) 21:00, 7 September 2024 (UTC)
prose
[edit]- "Nazi groups had existed in Liechtenstein since 1933" - Nazi groups or far-right groups? Whichever it is, would be worth wikilinking
- "but it instead weakened such efforts for a time" - I think at FA level, you'll be asked to add a sentence explaining why it weakened efforts
- "The plans were reportedly supported by Joseph Goebbels.[7] However, it was personally blocked" - "plans" is plural, also however is considered a word to watch per WP:HOWEVER
- "It has been speculated that Franz I had given the regency to Franz Joseph on 31 March 1938 as he did not wish to remain in control of the principality if Nazi Germany were to invade" - speculated by who? also Nazi Germany is wikilnked here but first mention is in previous section
- "In the same month, the governing Progressive Citizens' Party and opposition Patriotic Union formed a coalition. This coalition was designed to avoid political deadlock " - 2x coalition
- "as such it became known as the "silent election" as no actual voting took place" - known by whom?
- " This was allowed to due to article thirty of the new proportional representation law, which states that"If one or more parties, representing at least 80% of the votes cast in the previous legislative elections, form a joint list of candidates, these, excluding the other candidates proposed by other parties, are declared elected, if fewer than 400 persons registered on the electoral lists do not object in writing within 14 days.".[14] " - better to have a secondary or tertiary source here, rather thna the law itself
- "This scheduled election is believed to be the primary motivation for the coup, as many within the VBDL saw it a" - believed by whom, please specify who is "many within"
- "The plan was drawn up by Nazi authorities in Feldkirch and the leader of the VDBL Theodor Schädler, although not backed by the German government itself. The plan was for members of the " 2xplan
- "It has also been speculated that" - speculated by whom
- " It was originally planed for 22 March 1939" - typo, fixed
- "This is accredited with removing the element of surprise from the preparations, as, reportedly, employees of the" - accreddited by whom, reportedly is a word to watch
- "In the late evening of 24 March, approximately 40 members of the VDBL starting from Nendeln marched towards Vaduz.[1]" - this doesn't read well
- "However, in front of Schaan," - suggest however isn't needed
- "However, in front of Schaan, opponents had gathered to stop them and the VDBL were convinced to turn back by government councillor Anton Frommelt who also blocked their telephone lines, in addition to aid from Ferdinand Risch." - this doesn't read well, are you saying Frommelt blocked telephones and aid?
- "It was is not exactly known why Hitler decided to not intervene in the coup, though it has been speculated that he had little interest in Liechtenstein, and that he did not want to provoke a war with Switzerland.[19]" - was is typo, sugets rephrasing sentence, speculated by whom
- " and launch a signature campaign to reaffirm Liechtenstein's independence, which received 2492 signatures" 2x signature, a signature campaign is a petition?
- "of which seven were convicted in 1946" - but 8 names follow?
- will do lead last:
- "The plan was for members of the VDBL to march on Vaduz and seize control of the government, which was hoped would cause clashes between them and the government" - doesn't read well, 2x government
- "The plan failed however, as they were stopped by opponents" - no need for however, who is "they"
- ithink the lead could be expanded to summarise the article better, for example the immediate aftermath
references
[edit]- ref9 - has too many capital letters
- refs with titles not in english need to have a translation [in square brackets]
- at FA people will prob ask for any further reading to be brought into the article

[edit]- request alt text
- better to use "thumb" than px
