  1. Why do you want to be a Wikipedia Ambassador?
I believe that the future of Wikipedia is dependent on new users feeling welcome and becoming productive.
  2. In three sentences or less, summarize your involvement with Wikimedia projects.
In terms of editing I am very active in music related projects especially WikiProject Metal and WikiProject Albums but also contribute to WikiProject Punk music, WikiProject Rock music, WikiProject Musicians, and WikiProject Guitarists.
  3. Please indicate a few articles to which you have made significant content contributions. (e.g. DYK, GA, FA, major revisions/expansions/copyedits).
A list of articles that I created can be found here and my DYKs here. I suppose Eddie Bayers is my best work and I'm also pleased with Conspirare. Articles started by others that I contributed to reaching GA are Black Sabbath, Ramones, and Wicked Lester.
  4. How have you been involved with welcoming and helping new users on Wikipedia?
I frequently add welcome templates to talkpages when I see a new user is trying to contribute productively. This dif is a good example of an instance when I thought more than a template was needed to convey what I wanted without biting.
  5. What do you see as the most important ways we could welcome newcomers or help new users become active contributors?
Praising effort, pointing to policies/guidelines, allowing them to fix 'mistakes'.
  6. Have you had major conflicts with other editors? Blocks or bans? Involvement in arbitration? Feel free to offer context, if necessary.
    nope
  7. How often do you edit Wikipedia and check in on ongoing discussions? Will you be available regularly for at least two hours per week, in your role as a mentor?
Too often! I probably edit 4-12 hours a day.
  8. What else should we know about you that is relevant to being a Wikipedia Ambassador?
I do periodically travel and do not have internet access, I average a 5 day trip every 2-3 months. Although I am availably by email I am notorious for not checking it. I am not very technically inclined.
