Wikipedia:Newline after references

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

After a ref tag (<ref>) and ref close tag (</ref>), create a newline:

Article text article text article text<ref> {return}
reference text reference text reference text</ref> {return}
article text continues...

Newlining reference text – i.e. putting reference text on a new line – makes it easier for editors to see which text is article text and which text is reference text. This is particularly helpful where large amounts of reference text are used.
