Wikipedia:Newbie treatment at Criteria for speedy deletion/Awadewit

I created three articles about 18th-century literature. None of them garnered much interest and they were treated a bit unevenly.

Practical Education - 12 days after the article was created, a user came by and added categories and wikilinks. However, no tag was left on the article or message left on the talk page indicating it lacked references. I as a new user was not contacted about my errors in wikisyntax, either.
Ormond (novel) - 12 days after the article was created, a user tagged it as being unreferenced, uncategorized, and in need of wikifying. They also added a "WikiProject Ireland" tag to the talk page, which seems strange to me, since this article is primarily about a novel, but perhaps they are unaware of the existence of "WikiProject Novels". Four hours later, another user added a few wikilinks and some categories. However, no one left a message about the sources on either the article talk page or my talk page.
Harrington (novel) - 12 days after the article was created, a user added categories to and wikified the article. However, no tag was left on the article or message left on the talk page indicating it lacked references. I as a new user was not contacted about my errors in wikisyntax, either.

In general, these articles demonstrate that we integrate new content reasonably well, but we do not go out and solicit the help of new users. Awadewit (talk) 04:05, 3 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
