On the occasion of Women’s History Month 2016, Writing Middle Eastern Women into History Initiative (WMWH) is launching Wiki-Women-Middle East, a series of Wiki Edit-a-thon gatherings around the globe to add profiles of Middle Eastern women cultural and social art practitioners to Wikipedia.
Event details
[edit]While volunteer editors can join this ongoing collective effort remotely at their preferred time and space, on Thursday, March 31, 2016, pilot programs will take place in four locations:
- Location 1: CultureHub, 47 Great Jones St, New York, NY 10012 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm
- Location 2: Herat WMWH member space 8:00 am – 10:00 am
- Location 3: Mashhad WMWH member space 10:00 am – 12:00 pm
- Location 4 – Core Hub: Arab American National Museum, Annex Building, 13624 Michigan Ave, Dearborn, MI 48126 8:00 am – 8:00 pm
- Profiles of DIWAN Forum's women members will be highlighted and registered to Wikipedia at this location
- What to bring:Participants should bring their own laptops and power cords
- Cost: The program is free and open to the public
- Hashtag: #WHMH2016
