Wikipedia:Meetup/Penn State WGSS Edit-a-thon

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Penn State WGSS Wiki Edit-a-thon will take place on Thursday, March 21. Did you know that 90% of Wikipedia contributors are men[1] and only 17% of "notable profiles" are on women[2]? This means that a lot of interesting women and non-binary people are missing from Wikipedia. Due to this disparity, libraries have taken up the charge of hosting events to increase diversity in page content and contribution. To accomplish that goal, you can help in many ways; you can create entirely new pages, re-vamp existing pages, or help proof-read pages! On this page, you'll find some information to help you set up a Wikipedia account and master the basics of page creation/editing. Also on this page, you can find inspiration for creation/editing. It's important to remember that every little bit helps, so don't feel too overwhelmed by the thought of creating a whole new page.
