The Pratt Institute Library Art+Feminism Wikipedia Edit-a-thon 2018 will be held March 23,11:00-4:00pm at the Pratt Institute Library, in Brooklyn and Manhattan, New York City.

Event details
[edit]All are invited, with no specialized knowledge of the subject or Wikipedia editing experience required. Please bring your laptop and power cord; we will provide research resources, WiFi, and a list of suggested topics.
- Date: Friday, March 23, 2018
- Time: 11:00am-4:00 pm EST Host
- Location: Pratt Institute Library, 144 W 14th Street Rm 401, New York NY 10011
- Organizers: Department of Digital Arts and Animation and the Pratt Institute Library
- Directions: Subway/Bus: A, C, E, F, M, 1, 2 & 3 trains to 14th street or L to 6th Avenue.
- Who should attend: People of all gender identities and expressions. Please ask your fellow attendees for their pronouns of choice!
- What to bring:Please bring your laptop, power cord and ideas for entries that need updating or creation. For the editing-averse, we urge you to stop by to show your support.

Schedule
[edit]- Presentation: We will have a short ‘how to’ intro on writing and editing Wikipedia entries for new editors.
- Start writing: Stay for as long as suits and start writing/editing in good company and with help at hand.
- Snacks: We will provide snacks as we go.
- Who: We welcome anyone interested in writing more women in the built environment into Wikipedia. No Wikipedia editing experience is necessary. We will start with an overview of writing and editing Wikipedia article. We will also provide assistance throughout the event for Wikipedia newcomers. Experienced Wikipedians are also very welcome – we need as much help as you can offer!

[edit]Consider working on one of the artists listed on Black Lunch Table's list, the Women In Red list, or the WikiProject Women Artists for more contribution ideas.
Before you arrive

- Please create a Wikipedia account before the event
- While logged into your Wikipedia account, [outreach dashboard event link]
- Outside of Wikipedia, identify a publication which you find interesting and worthwhile to share
- Based on the publication you choose, take your own notes about some individual facts
- During the event
- Only after you have a publication to cite and some facts to share, browse relevant Wikipedia articles to see if this information is present
- If your information is not already in Wikipedia, then click the edit button at the top to add it.
- Be sure to use a citation after every sentence you add!
Note that before the event, your focus for preparation should be the research you do outside of Wikipedia for identifying good sources of information to cite!
