This meetup is attached to the course, Gender and Intersectionality in LIS Practice, taught by Professor Jessica Hochman at the Pratt Institute School of Information and Library Science.
Course Information
[edit]Instructor: Jessica Hochman, PhD
From the syllabus:
Within the SILS community, and the profession writ large, there is an ongoing need for an examination of gender within the field. This course will address concerns around gender and its intersections with race, class and sexual orientation.
The course is project-based and engages students in reflective practice. Each week students will engage in a workshop that builds on the week’s readings, centered around a theme related to the LIS field. These workshops will infuse considerations of gender and intersectionality into traditional areas of study within the information professions. Students in the course will therefore practice several typical library practices in innovative ways through the lens of gender.
