All Wikipedians/Wikimedians were invited to join our free culture allies!
Following up on a great showing from Virginia Tech and other FC activists at Wikipedia:Meetup/DC 9, the Free Culture X conference of Students for Free Culture, was held at the George Washington University in DC. Keynote addresses were given by Harvard Berkman Center co-founder Jonathan Zittrain, the co-founder of the public interest group Public Knowledge, Gigi Sohn, and the director of American University's Center for Social Media, Pat Aufderheide.
Saturday was the invited speakers and panels, and Sunday was an unconference, including a Wikimedia workshop with User:Aude, User:Benjamin Mako Hill, User:Pharos and User:Mindspillage (WMF board member Kat Walsh), along with a number of Students for Free Culture activists. Among other topics discussed, several of the SFD chapters expressed interest in holding their own Wikipedia:Wikipedia Takes The City photo events.
