Wikipedia:Meetup/Bay Area WikiSalon July 2016
Bay Area WikiSalon series | ||
---|---|---|
Periodically, on a last Wednesday evening of the month, wiki and open-source enthusiasts meet up to mingle, munch, collaborate or learn about new projects and ideas. At each WikiSalon we plan a brief formal presentation; some will help orient people new to the wiki/open-source world, with others geared to more experienced people. Many presentations will have broad appeal to non-wiki/non-open-source folks. We hope you will join us! Note: We are extremely inclusive – broadly construed – plus we adhere to the friendly place policies of the Wikimedia Foundation.

For our July Bay Area WikiSalon, we will head to Noisebridge, a hacker space in San Francisco's Mission district, and work on Wikipedia's coverage of basic income. Please join us for the edit-a-thon, or just to hang out, snack, and talk wiki.
Wikipedia's basic income page is the first resource many people will see for this policy idea, but it's a mess right now. There are neutrality issues, citations missing, key events unmentioned, overly verbose writing, confusing organization: on and on and on. Whether you are a Wikipedia expert, an economic policy expert, or new to both, there's plenty to discuss and plenty to do. Often, fresh eyes are very helpful in figuring out how to express a topic to a general audience. So come help us fix this important article!
