Meetup at JMM 2023 in Boston, MA
[edit]Join us at the Joint Mathematics Meetings in Boston, MA, during the workshop Mathematicians + Wikipedia, a training edit-a-thon to reduce the Wikipedia gender gap in the Mathematical Sciences, an event in cooperation with the Association for Women in Mathematics. We will edit and translate Wikipedia biographies of Mathematicians with a particular focus on Mathematicians from marginalized groups, and we will track our contributions with an online dashboard. We’ll have internet access and experienced Wikipedians who can help you start editing. Please bring a laptop or tablet and some curiosity.
This event supports the Welcoming Environment Statement of the Association for Women in Mathematics.
What to expect
[edit]This is a gathering for anyone attending the Joint Mathematics Meetings conference, from seasoned contributors to people who are wanting to know more. Anyone can contribute. No Wikipedia editing experience necessary; as needed throughout the event, tutoring will be provided for Wikipedia newcomers. If you are unfamiliar with Wikipedia, you can get a head start with this training module.
