  • Portomaso - I mean, it includes the tallest building in Malta (there's even an article on it on the German wikipedia). Currently the article says: Portomaso is a snooker venue in Malta where the yearly snooker tournament, The Malta Open is held. It has been the Malta Open venue since the tournement first started being held there, in 1995. Wtf?
  • Tigné Point - Possibly the biggest, most ambitious developments ever in Malta.
  • Bay Street
  • go mobile
  • Possibly Smart City?

Comment It s important that the article on Smart City will be as neutral as much as posible Maltesedog 12:55, 16 January 2007 (UTC)

Wasn't the project cancelled or something? Forget the article for now... Marcus1234 16:37, 16 January 2007 (UTC)
Started the SmartCity article. Very little info since I can't find much info online. Marcus1234 10:44, 30 January 2007 (UTC)

User:BONGU SEAN has created a bunch of Malta related articles, all orphans. Perhaps he could use help with categorizing and links. 「ѕʀʟ·17:06, 21 January 2007 (UTC)

questionable edits

Hello, I just found two edits by 134.146.0.12 - one was clearly POV which I reverted, but the edit to [Black Monday (Malta)] I'm not sure about. 「ѕʀʟ·03:13, 16 January 2007 (UTC)

I do not agree with the edits.. they were only allegations from the little bit of history i know. P.S. SRL I am very busy in "real life" at the moment. Maltesedog 12:52, 16 January 2007 (UTC)

thanks.. 「ѕʀʟ·21:04, 16 January 2007 (UTC)

Maps

Prosit lil User:Wykebjs for the excellent svg maps on Msida and elsewhere.. 「ѕʀʟ·18:04, 18 February 2007 (UTC)

BONGU SEAN has recently created this article. There doesn't seem to be any point in it, because from what I read on sources, the districts can change for each election year. But, having said that, I'm not certain if there are any permanent districts, so I am at a loss as to what to do with it.

I'm hoping that somebody who knows more than me will be able to better describe the roles of regional districts and their role in government, so does anybody have any ideas on improving this article, or should it be deleted? ~ ► Wykebjs ◄ (userpage | talk) 20:40, 22 February 2007 (UTC)

things already done 23:39, 3 September 2007 (UTC)

  • The Scout Association of Malta
  • Royal Opera House, Valletta - I was also very surprised that nobody had started this article. Anyway, an expert on the subject might want to add some triva bits/expand the article or whatever. It's decent enough as it is though.
  • Start an article on the Tarxien Temples.
  • Baroque archtiecture - the section about Malta of course. I was surprised nobody actually started this section - I mean, Valletta; it's a Baroque city! Anyway, it needs a lot of work, perhaps an expert on the subject would be interested.

Pietru Caxaro... spelling contradictions?

His name is spelt Pietru Caxaro on the Maltese Wikipedia, but Google displays 893 hits for Pietru Caxaru, 813 more than Pietru Caxaro. And there supposedly are several other ways his name can be written.

This can be confusing for some readers, so which one(s) are correct? ~ ► Wykebjs ◄ (userpage | talk) 22:48, 26 January 2007 (UTC)

Since we Know so little about Caxaro, and the aricle will probably remain a stub, the most sensible thing to do, is to have both names redirect to Cantilena and update that article. --Inkiwna 01:49, 2 September 2007 (UTC)

Culture of Malta

Folks, I have been working on Culture of Malta for some time, and it remains very much a work in progress. I recognize that it is getting to be very long, but then there is so much to say about the cultural history of these islands. I would welcome any thoughts, comments, or edits to make this page more attractive and useful. Any useful images out there? I also recognize that there are still many gaps. For example, in the "Arts and Crafts" section, we need to add some comments on glassblowing, and possibly on other traditional crafts such as wrought-iron work (ferrobattuto) and cabinetry (especially the olive-wood inlay techniques). We could also use some info on Maltese artists, composers, writers, sculptors and architects, their body of work and their influences. Any comments would be greatly appreciated. lamato 13:53, 4 March 2007 (UTC)

Lists of Roads

Why do these keep being added? Is this notable? I would think that Wikipedia is not a mAZe.. See also:

ѕʀʟ·19:55, 15 September 2007 (UTC)
I agree Srl, I really do not understand the point of these sections, but there are actually whole pages on wikipedia dedicated to "lists of roads", so I guess for the time being we should leave them be. Marcus1234 08:19, 16 September 2007 (UTC)
OK. See the one on Żurrieq also for a new heading that is showing up on some. I am not sure what point is trying to be made - similar road names are used all over Malta. Seems like it should be 'the roads in malta are..' in Malta or some such. 「ѕʀʟ·08:29, 16 September 2007 (UTC)
That section in the Zurrieq article is ridiculous. I don't know man, maybe as you said (if I understood you correctly) we should just create one page with a list of the main routes in Malta (arterial roads, bypasses, and motorways etc) and then we can get rid of all the unneccessary "list of roads" sections in the town/city articles. Marcus1234 15:10, 16 September 2007 (UTC)
No. I mean, I was not disputing that the names show the Catholic faith. That's pretty clear, and may indeed be notable. But it is probably notable at the Malta and not the Żurrieq or other city level. I wasn't talking about main routes, although that may be notable in itself. But simply a list of streets adds no value relevant to wikipedia, I think. No responses from the people doing them, even though I write their talk page. 「ѕʀʟ·17:34, 16 September 2007 (UTC)
Ah, I see. Well, I agree that a list of streets add no value to an article (and are not notable), and as I previously stated, I think we should get rid of them. Secondly, regarding the Zurrieq article, I really doubt that a list of Catholic street names adds to the article in any way. Such street names are common all over Malta, as you said. So again, I think it should be deleted. I have yet to come across a foreign town/city article that includes a "list of roads" section. Marcus1234 20:13, 16 September 2007 (UTC)
The NZ cities above have lists of roads. 「ѕʀʟ·03:43, 17 September 2007 (UTC)
Well that article supposedly only includes main retail streets but now it's turned into a big mess. We should try that: instead of having list of roads in different Maltese town articles, we should just have one article listing the one or two most important roads in each town/city. What do you think? Marcus1234 09:03, 17 September 2007 (UTC)
I'm not sure spending time hunting and deleting lits of streets is a good use of the limited resource of WIP:MALT. Most of these lists are on articles that are stubs anyway. Once an article starts developing properly, the list is sure to be replaced by something more relevant. We should rather concentrate on de-stubbing the articles on all 68 localities in Malta. The street lists are a minor issue IMHO --Inkiwna 16:04, 29 September 2007 (UTC)
213.165.168.50 has weighed in - I've invited them to comment here. 「ѕʀʟ·05:54, 24 September 2007 (UTC)

de-stubbing the articles on all 68 localities in Malta

Inkiwna, you have a good point. De-stubbing seems to have progressed in some places, such as Dingli, Swieqi, Ħamrun. Many of these need large amounts of cleanup, but having content is good.. 「ѕʀʟ·03:21, 5 October 2007 (UTC)

i noticed Joseph Baldacchino was tagged as non notable. Not familiar with the person, but Għar Dalam 's work is quite important I'd think. 「ѕʀʟ·17:45, 23 September 2007 (UTC)

boldness, cynicism, enthusiasm and vandalism

We have several, mostly anonymous, newer editors active. The enthusiasm and much of the content is good. They don't seem to respond to requests (probably due to being IPs), and I am slightly concerned that the rate of un-careful (non-WP:MOS, etc) to careful (people who read boards like this, answer their talk pages, etc) edits is growing somewhat. Of course, I have the concern periodically but it usually turns out OK. 「ѕʀʟ·15:33, 11 October 2007 (UTC)

What is the proper way to deal with self-glofing biographic entries? And with the myriad of Maltese "OOOh I appeared on tv and sung a song once" type pages/ I am particularly concerned with the poor quality of List in Maltese people --Inkiwna 19:00, 6 November 2007 (UTC)
think you mean List of Maltese people .. Hey, i would almost qualify then ;) For people, WP:BIO is the basic Wikipedia standard. I think it might be appropriate to have a page somewhere giving some examples for local guidelines. Maybe a sub section of Wikipedia:WikiProject_Malta/Assessment with a link from here? 「ѕʀʟ·22:52, 7 November 2007 (UTC)
