Welcome to WikiProject Canoeing and Kayaking

We are a Wiki Project Group dedicated to improving Wikipedia's coverage of Kayaking, Kayaks, Canoeing, and Canoes.

Goals

1. Increase membership of editors interested in kayaking and canoeing in all its forms.
2. Improve the accuracy and quality of all kayaking and canoeing articles.
3. Develop the collection of kayaking and canoeing images on Wikimedia Commons.
4. Improve and create kayaking and canoeing related templates.

Scope of the WikiProject

The Canoeing and Kayaking WikiProject concerns the creation, development, and organisation of all Wikipedia's articles about kayaks, kayaking, canoes and canoeing (including biographies) of famous kayakers and canoeists. This means all articles that could somehow relate to kayaking, or canoeing, including but not limited to:

• Equipment
• Disciplines
• Boats
• Notable kayakers or canoeists

Announcements

• The new Outline of canoeing and kayaking has now been started – have a look and see what you can add
• Suggestion of an 'interview' about the Wikiproject has been posted on the Signpost Newsroom WikiProject desk – watch this space for updates

Guidelines

When editing articles, please keep in mind that this is an encyclopedia. If you have not already done so please check out the neutral point of view guidelines. We would like all user contributions to be factual (and have citations where possible). Please use common sense when editing articles. If you see pages that are in need of further work, please feel free to add them to the todo list.

Expand : The Kayaking article is in desperate need of expansion. Anyone with a moment to spare; we would appreciate your help. Merging the boofing article and other articles about specific techniques and moves will provide basis for expansion. It is likely to be necessary to keep separate articles for styles of kayaking (i.e. whitewater kayaking, sea kayaking, etc.) The PFD article is in need of expansion or maybe adding a section about kayaking PFD's or, in whitewater, buoyancy aids The Whitewater article is in need of expansion of river features (chutes, holes, waves, etc.). Be Bold! Create new pages for different river features if necessary. The Buoyancy aid article is in desperate need of expansion by someone with good research skills. The Kayak Roll article should be expanded to include all disciplines of rolling and more general detail. • Playboating, creeking, ocean surfing Modern plastic/CF boats and their progression from hand made fiberglass to plastic and beyond. Progression of paddlers skills, gear, gumption...The Germans have a stub article.
• Percy W Blandford: designer of the PBK; his designs and books popularised kayaking in Britain and worldwide in the post-WWII period.
• Brácsa-sport
• Sit-on kayak
