I would like to propose that Wikipedia creates a standardization within its articles on Japanese name order. In Japan, the name order is surname first, given name second, and while I personally feel this is the best order to put Japanese names, it would also be acceptable to have the Western name order of given name first, surname second. I do feel however, that there should be some standard order as at the moment it seems to be a disorganized 50/50 split as the current situation is not really in the spirit of Wikipedia.

- We invite debate about style (and this is a point of style) at Wikipedia talk:Manual of Style (Japan-related articles). Before suggesting any changes, please be sure to read the extensive current and archived discussion (for example, at Wikipedia:Manual of Style for Japan-related articles/Name order). We have a clear decision that historical names will be in surname, given name order. We do not have a decision about modern names and welcome additional points of view.
