Wikipedia:India Education Program/Courses/Fall 2011/Research Methodology Year 3 Group A
Hello Students! It is most disturbing to see that most of you have not started writing your article, even when your submission deadline is staring you in the face. Some of you are doing really well on the leaderboard. Then, why not all of you? Also, please understand that if you do not stick to deadlines, you get a mark deducted for each lapse. If the final article is not submitted, you lose all the marks allotted for the Innovative Methods Assessment. So, buck up and outdo yourselves :) All the best, Ishita

Assignment Overview
[edit]Over the course of the semester the students in this class will be completing a series of tasks that will allow them to familiarize themselves with the Wikipedia community and practices, understand the highly developed style of Wikipedia, complete research on a focused topic of the student's choice, and write (or substantially revise) a Wikipedia article. Students have two options to identify topics:
- Students may work individually to develop articles in any area of interest (e.g. economics, sports, biology, art, etc.); or,
- Students may build articles within a broader topic that needs improvement. Examples include sub-topics on Pune related to its monuments, places of historical/cultural interest, etc.). The professor will identify these broad areas and students should each choose a sub-topic article to work on.
Article Selection

Online Ambassador
[edit]Hello, I am an experienced Wikipedia editor who has volunteered as an online ambassador to assist students editing Wikipedia:India Education Program/Courses/Fall 2011/Research Methodology Year 3 Group A articles. Please call on me freely with respect to editing and style questions. I can also address any issues you may encounter with other users confidentially. I live in the United States, MDT, so please be mindful of the time difference, about 12 hours. I am often available on irc in the early morning or late evening. I am available through Wikipedia email and will respond to notes on my talk page. Our experience with mentoring is that users who edit actively and communicate freely with other users often have the best experience, so, if possible, jump right in and actively edit your class assignment and anything else that interests you and feel free to ask me, or any other Wikipedia user, for help.
