- Uploaded by JuanMuslim (notify). - Barnstars ought to be potentially for all wikipedians, not just those of one religion. If someone has done something noteworthy on Islam-related articles, it makes them noted contributors, not "Islamic."Timothy Usher 07:32, 27 May 2006 (UTC)
- Strong Keep. The purpose of the award is to recognize any editor who has made exceptional contributions to Islam-related articles. In fact, it is even less religious-minded than the SaintBarnstar.PNG, which was created to honor Christian editors - that is, "to honor those declared saints by the Catholic Church of Wikipedia, but free to be used to recognize any editor who can be described no other way than as a saint of this community." --JuanMuslim 1m 09:22, 27 May 2006 (UTC)

- Your nomination counts as a vote. You also failed to mention on my talk page that you put the image up for deletion. Refer to the talk pages of the users who uploaded the images nominated for possible deletion before and after my image. --JuanMuslim 1m 12:27, 28 May 2006 (UTC)
- I personally added the IFD (images for deletion) tag onto the IslamicBarnstar image. You also failed to do that. You know that there is no way for people to vote on an image that people aren't aware is up for possible deletion.--JuanMuslim 1m 12:24, 28 May 2006 (UTC)

- Delete per Timothy Usher. The Saint Barnstar argument doesn't work, as "the Catholic Church of Wikipedia" was intended as a joke, and that barnstar has usually been awarded for interpersonal skills with complete disregard for religious issues. Pecher Talk 09:41, 27 May 2006 (UTC)
- Keep per JuanMuslim, although it might be worth changing the name of the award (eg. to "The Islamic Article Barnstar") to avoid offending the religious sensibilities of others. — JEREMY 10:29, 27 May 2006 (UTC)
- Keep star for topic area. Don't add "Article" to name of award as that implies it is only relevant to certain articles, rather than a topic. (SEWilco 04:10, 28 May 2006 (UTC))
- There is absolutely no reason to delete the picture. Strong keep. - Mike Rosoft 12:14, 30 May 2006 (UTC)
- Keep I believe this award does not try to divide ther users into groups but it is a good way to award contributions to the islam-related articles. a statement of my own: positive reinforcement is ALWAYS better than negative reinforcement. it's psychology 101. this barnstar is an example of positive reinforcement. Suleyman Habeeb 11:33, 27 May 2006 (UTC)
- Keep i seen no one implying that only a group of people can be awarded with it. --Striver 12:17, 27 May 2006 (UTC)
- It would seem that the vast majority of people given this award are Muslim [1]. Meanwhile, it's called the "Islamic barnstar." Coincidence? I think not.Timothy Usher 16:01, 27 May 2006 (UTC)
- Whant to start a conspiracy guild with me to expose conspiracies? All my atempts have been deleted :( [kidding] --Striver 16:58, 27 May 2006 (UTC)
- Timothy Usher, as it is a barnstar, you personally can award it to anyone you choose (Muslim or non-Muslim). It's probably not a coincidence that many of the people awarded the Islamic barnstar are Muslim. It is possible that Muslims may be the most active in Islam-related articles, in the same way that Johnleemk and Kimchi.sg, two users from Southeast Asia, have been the primary contributors to Ketuanan Melayu. joturner 20:16, 27 May 2006 (UTC)
- Can we change the name, then? I'd can think of several people I'd like to award an Islam-related article barnstar, but I'd be very uncomfortable sending an "Islamic barnstar". These are different concepts, I'm sure you'd agree: For example, Bernard Lewis' work is Islam-related, but is it "Islamic?" The title simply doesn't match the explanation.

- Of major non-Muslim contributors to Islam-related articles, only one received this award, while several Muslims who've done little other than rep an "Islamic" point of view received it. This distribution is consistent with the title of the barnstar, not with your explanation of its meaning (which, were it so, would be perfectly fine).
- Even the creators' username is inappropriately sectarian and needlessly divisive, as is the "Muslim Guild" which has vote-spammed this page[2] in response to his advertisement thereto.Timothy Usher 06:37, 28 May 2006 (UTC)
- I agree with Timothy Usher on the name-change. The barnstar maybe named Islamic Edit Barnstar or Islam-Related Contributor Barnstar or something else. I don't agree with Timothy Usher on the user's name being divisive, saying that you're a muslim in your name is not sectarian it just means that the user is a muslim. for example Muslim (pronounced Müslüm in Türkish) is a widely used name in Turkey. Suleyman Habeeb 07:14, 28 May 2006 (UTC)
- How about Barnstar for Islam-related articles? A little unwieldy, but the current title doesn't match its intended meaning as represented here. Joturner?Timothy Usher 08:40, 28 May 2006 (UTC)
- Could be Islamic Articles Contribution Barnstar, now that's a long name Suleyman Habeeb 17:31, 28 May 2006 (UTC)

- Strong Keep The barnstar can be awarded to anyone, not just Muslims. The description for the image says The Islamic Barnstar Award was created to recognize any editor who has made exceptional contributions to Islam-related articles. Anybody can make exceptional contributions to Islam-related articles. joturner 14:00, 27 May 2006 (UTC)

- There's no way for you to know how users found this page; I personally didn't get here from the Muslim Guild talk page. However, looking at that page, it seems perfectly reasonable to link to this page as there was a discussion regarding this image already occuring prior to this deletion request. joturner 20:06, 27 May 2006 (UTC)
- Well, most keeps propagate from members of the Guild, and as usual, the Guild votes unanimously in one direction. Are we supposed to pretend not to notice?Timothy Usher 08:37, 28 May 2006 (UTC)
- You know that we Muslims don't agree unanimously on all issues. And, you know that all guild members aren't Muslim. --JuanMuslim 1m 12:31, 28 May 2006 (UTC)

- Comment I had already added that particular section of the Muslim Guild talk page to this voting talk page to give others an accurate idea about our current discussion. --JuanMuslim 1m 16:43, 27 May 2006 (UTC)
- Comment This vote counting is ridiculous, there are thousands of images created by, thousands of users as Barnstars check EssJays's Gallery
- Keep there's nothing inherently non-neutral in this image. The only thing that perhaps could use changing is the name of the file and perhaps the wording of the actual barnstar award but even this I'm not convinced of. Netscott 17:21, 28 May 2006 (UTC)
- Strong Delete As per previous comments, also put the whole of the muslim guild up for deletion too. It's highly inappropriate. JHJPDJKDKHI! 21:23, 2 June 2006 (UTC)
- Strong keep If anyone wants to argue, check WikiProject Christianity's Saint's Star Award. Besides, this barnstar can be given to anyone. I acknowledge more work has to be done to give the Islamic Barnstar only to the deserving and not simply to any person who is favoured, but that doesn't mean it has to be deleted, right? Do you get rid of the Oscars simply because the judges happened to favour a certain type of artiste more? No, you keep it and impose more stringent measures.--Ariedartin 16:37, 18 June 2006 (UTC)
