Wikipedia:GLAM/Queen Street Mill Museum/event
A backstage pass tour and editathon was held at Queen Street Mill on 4 May 2013. Lunch and refreshments were provided, and admission charges waived.
What
[edit]A backstage pass tour is where Wikipedians are taken "behind the scenes" of a museum or other institution, in order to gain an understanding of the potential for writing articles about objects in the venue's collection, including its stores. People with cameras can take pictures or video.
An editathon is where Wikipedia editors work collaboratively to create and develop encyclopedia articles, making use of access to archives and other resources.
Who
[edit]Anyone could attend. That includes experienced Wikipedians, and contributors to other Wikimedia projects, of course, but also people new to the projects, who would like to know more. Help was on hand for people who have not edited or uploaded media before.
