Scotland's Suffrage History Education Pack[edit]
During Summer 2020, we ran a crowdfunder and raised over £20,400 to celebrate the gallus women behind Scotland's radical past. This was 275% of our target and allowed us to research and produce 100 Education Packs on Scotland's Suffrage History, which we gifted to schools across Scotland. Each Pack contains 7 decks of Scotland's Suffragette Trumps cards, 10 Rent Strikers & Suffragettes zines, and teaching resources (including lesson plans, worksheets, and presentation slides) co-designed by social enterprise Braw Talent. Learn more by visiting Protests and Suffragette's website Working with historians, key organisations, and libraries and archives across Scotland, Protests & Suffragettes researched and created a bespoke Trump-style card game (Scotland's Suffragette Trumps) to highlight the hidden histories of Scottish suffrage activism and its links to both local and international protest movements. The deck features women activists from every region of Scotland, including Dorothy (Mary) Malony (drowned out Churchill's campaign speeches with a dinner gong), Jessie Craigen (an early working-class suffrage speaker), Mary Anne Baikie (one of the founding members of the Orcadian Suffrage Society) and Herabai Tata (spoke across the UK and the world about equality for women). We also highlight women who lead important protests like Mary Barbour (1915 Rent Strikes), Helen Crawfurd (Suffragette), and Agnes Dollan (Women’s Peace Crusade) in a colourful zine. Scotland's Suffragette Trumps Cards[edit]This bespoke deck of cards features images and information on 44 women activists who campaigned in Scotland as suffragettes and suffragists.
