This is a list of Wikimedia events held at the Herbert Art Gallery and Museum. 2012[edit]When: 1 September 2012 Wikipedia Takes Coventry is a one day photo scavenger hunt, held in the city of Coventry, England on September 1 2012. Anyone can participate in the day, there is no need to be a Wikimedian or a member of Wikimedia UK. When: 31 March 2012 An edit-a-thon is an event aimed at sharing the expertise of real-world cultural institutions with our wiki-expertise. This topic of this edit-a-thon is "historic Coventry" and is loosely based around the subjects of the temporary exhibition Wonderful Watercolours: views of Coventry and Warwickshire. Following an introduction, attendees will be given a tour of the exhibition before an editing session. The event is free to attend and lunch will be provided. 2011[edit]When: 1 October 2011 Join Wikimedians and Curators for a day-long event. There will be four sets of parallel tours, including the on- and off-site stores, conservation department and galleries. In the afternoon, participants will get into groups with curators to edit articles about topics related to the museum and its collections. The event is free to attend and lunch will be provided. When: 14 September 2011 Led by Erin Hollis (Herbert Art Gallery and Museum) and Andy Mabbet (Pigsonthewing), this workshop for GLAM representatives will focus on different ways for GLAMs to work with Wikimedia. Participants will discuss how they currently use new media in outreach. It will then move on to scoping projects which are within the capacity of each individual institution. |
