Te Pātaka o Rākaihautū Banks Peninsula was once almost entirely forested, but only small fragments of that bush remains. One of the goals of the 2025 Wikipedian at Large project is to improve the coverage of Banks Peninsula's remaining forests and its unique plant species and associations.
