Description: This image depicts a person interacting with media in one of our labs, part of the design process at Second Story.
Comment: - Not sure what's going on with this one. When I try to transfer I get a duplicate warning for Second_Story_Lab.png, but no such file seems to exist, or to have ever been deleted on Commons. GMGtalk13:49, 7 March 2018 (UTC)
Hmm... so then I guess Flickr2Commons is set to auto-reject any previously deleted image? Seems odd since it auto-checks each image for compatible licensing. At least I would expect there to be a manual override. GMGtalk14:49, 7 March 2018 (UTC)
If you try to repost a previously deleted file, then Mediawiki complains. You can override the warning if you're using the standard upload form, but maybe Flickr2Commons lacks that feature. Files could be deleted as Flickrwashing, as a derivative work or whatever, and it's best to go through c:COM:UDR if you want the file undeleted.
User:Hammersoft, who nominated the file for deletion on Commons, questioned whether the uploader was the copyright holder, so was the original upload tagged as "own work by the uploader"? The Flickr account looks credible: it's from 2008 and has thousands of picture and thus difficult to fake, but I don't find any link from the company's website to the Flickr account. --Stefan2 (talk) 21:04, 7 March 2018 (UTC)
Chiming in here as pinged. The file on Commons was the only upload by the editor on Commons. The image on Commons was from https://secondstory.com/studios, which does not have a license compatible with Commons. Note that the upload to flickr occurred a month after the deletion discussion on Commons closed as delete. Thus, the image at the time truly wasn't available under a license compatible with Commons. If the company can be shown to be the owner of that flickr stream (which does seem to be the case), I've no objections, as it is licensed appropriately for Commons from that stream. --Hammersoft (talk) 21:16, 7 March 2018 (UTC)
Article To Be Used On/Reason For Upload: The image is used to identify the organisation Yorkshire Universities Air Squadron, a subject of public interest. The significance of the logo is to help the reader identify the organisation, assure the readers that they have reached the right article containing critical commentary about the organisation, and illustrate the organisation's intended branding message in a way that words alone could not convey.
Not done - The current logo appears to be accurate, and there is not a compelling reason to replace a less complex image, with a more complex image including the less complex image within itself. Both illustrate the subject of the article, and so we should err on the side of the least complex image that accomplishes this. GMGtalk12:57, 5 April 2018 (UTC)

This image is subject to copyright, but is covered under fair use laws and Wikipedia's non free content policies as
- It illustrates the article about the organisation that the logo represents.
- It is low resolution, so cannot be used to produce illicit goods.
- It is not replaceable by uncopyrighted images of comparable value, as it is a logo of an organisation.

The entire cover: because the image is cover art, a form of product packaging, the entire image is needed to identify the product, properly convey the meaning and branding intended, and avoid tarnishing or misrepresenting the image.
The copy is of sufficient resolution for commentary and identification but lower resolution than the original cover. Copies made from it will be of inferior quality, unsuitable as artwork on pirate versions or other uses that would compete with the commercial purpose of the original artwork.
Main infobox. The image is used for identification in the context of critical commentary of the work for which it serves as cover art. It makes a significant contribution to the user's understanding of the article, which could not practically be conveyed by words alone. The image is placed in the infobox at the top of the article discussing the work, to show a primary visual image associated with the work, and to help the user quickly identify the work and know they have found what they are looking for. Use for this purpose does not compete with the purposes of the original artwork, namely the creator providing graphic design services to relevant concerns and video game marketing to the public.
As cover art, the image is not replaceable by free content; any other image that shows the packaging of the item in question would also be copyrighted, and any version that is not true to the original would be inadequate for identification or commentary.
This image is cover art for a video game, and its copyright is most likely held by the game's publisher or developer. It is believed that the use of low-resolution images of game cover art
Please add a detailed non-free use rationale for each article the image is used in, which must also declare compliance with the other parts of the non-free content criteria, as well as the source of the work and copyright information.
To patrollers and administrators: If this image has an appropriate rationale please append |image has rationale=yes as a parameter to the license template.

Article To Be Used On/Reason For Upload:https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Masahiro_Sakurai - Currently, if you google "sakurai" you get a link to his Wikipedia page, and a photo that is not of him. I am attempting to correct this, but I'm inexperienced with Wikipedia in general.

Rylo Logo.svg
This request has been withdrawn. Please do not modify it.
I'm inclined to decline this request. This person is apparently notable primary for their military service, and so the likelihood of there existing a public domain image created by the US government seems to be high. I'm not totally comfortable that not having found one yet is sufficient to justify the use of an Associated Press image. In fact, since the Iwo Jima image includes the person, and is pretty easily fair use as a unique historically important image, I'm not sure that alone doesn't cause problems with uploading an additional fair use image according to the non-Free content criteria.
I don't think we have a good assurance that in the 40s , the military routinely photographed soldiers, and if they did, if those records still exist. (today, yes). That said: this image is non-free. It is apparently from the Smithsonian Channel. I also see a second image [1] that is also from the Smithsonian Channel. We are allowed to use non-free for deceased people, and this seems like a clear allowance. --Masem (t) 15:11, 5 April 2018 (UTC)
You know, now that you mention it, I don't actually know when official DoD photos of all NCOs and Officers actually became a policy. GMGtalk15:13, 5 April 2018 (UTC)
Just because it says Associated Press doesn't mean that they are the copyright holder. Much in the same way people can say "Taken from Wikipedia". All photos taken by federal employees in the course of their duties have been PD since 1976 (retroactive to all photos). However, Masem is correct. It really doesn't matter if it is {{PD-USGov}} since it would qualify for fair use under {{non-free biog-pic}}. I'm personally inclined to believe that this is an official government photo taken during the time of his service but without proof it would be safer to just fair use it. --Majora (talk) 00:10, 6 April 2018 (UTC)

PKU (phenylketonuria) and microcephaly
This upload request has been accepted. Please do not modify it.
This request for upload has been reviewed. The reviewer comments appear below the submission text.
Description: Babies born to mothers who have PKU and uncontrolled phenylalanine levels (women who no longer follow a low-phenylalanine diet) have a significant risk of intellectual disability because they are exposed to very high levels of phenylalanine before birth. These infants may also have a low birth weight and grow more slowly than other children. Other characteristic medical problems include heart defects or other heart problems, an abnormally small head size (microcephaly), and behavioral problems. Women with PKU and uncontrolled phenylalanine levels also have an increased risk of pregnancy loss. [From reference below]

As a book cover, the image is not replaceable by free content; any other image that shows the packaging of the book would also be copyrighted, and any version that is not true to the original would be inadequate for identification or commentary. Using a different image in the infobox would be misleading as to the identity of the work.

Before uploading click on "Aerosol and Other Risks" to make the purple line appear. QG...dude, you've been here for 12 years, you have as many main space contributions as I do, and you have 20 images uploaded on Commons already. Just...go upload the images. This is part of the Articles for Creation project, mostly for new editors who don't know how to properly formulate a non-free use rationale. I don't understand why you are so reticent to upload something yourself. I mean, I don't mind helping out, but..."upload these dozen files" is a little excessive for someone who knows how to upload files. GMGtalk13:27, 23 April 2018 (UTC)
