Wikipedia:Featured sound candidates/How Great Thou Art
Appearance
In a preliminary question I asked whether a performer like Ms. Adams counts as a government employee to determine PD eligibility. I later realized that the relevant issue is whether the person filming Ms. Adams is a government employee, which is the case. This file presents our first example of the possibilities of using White House entertainer performances for featured sounds. Looking at this file, I think this is a promising possibility. This file significantly ads to the following pages:

For movies you need to think about if the person filming, performing, and the underlying composition are PD. Since the performance is not this is a copy vio. --Guerillero | My Talk 10:22, 28 April 2011 (UTC)per sven's findings --In actu (Guerillero) | My Talk 12:24, 29 April 2011 (UTC)- Can you join the discussion a Wikipedia_talk:Public_domain#White_House_Enterainers_not_PD.--TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 13:49, 28 April 2011 (UTC)
- P.S. does that mean the audio version of this is PD and the video version is not?--TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 13:51, 28 April 2011 (UTC)
- Since above Guerillero (talk · contribs) suggests that there are some sort of personality rights to video performances, I have added an audio only version for consideration.--TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 14:05, 28 April 2011 (UTC)
- Comment We have confirmed the file is Creative Commons Attribution 3.0 License, according to the whitehouse.gov copyright page. (The hymn is PD-old-100, the performance is CC-BY-3.0, the recording is PD-USGov.)
- We may want to promote both of these files.--TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 13:04, 29 April 2011 (UTC)
