Well, here goes with another portal I've been working on. It currently has 31 selected articles, most of which have a freely licensed image; 13 selected biographies, due to the lack of higher quality biography articles, 16 selected pictures, 8 panoramic pictures again due to the lack of suitable panoramas, 10 DYK hooks and finally, 17 selected quotes. All of the articles selected for the 'selected article' and 'selected biography' box are of B-class status or higher. The news section is updated automatically by Wikinews Importer Bot (talk); I guess that is all there is to say, really. I'm willing to address any issues, should they crop up. - Comment Related portals must be more. Ultra! 18:53, 27 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
- I disagree. I've added portal links for neighbouring states, and the 'parent' portal, so any other links to portals would be unnecessary, but I'm willing to discuss. Qst (talk) 20:51, 27 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
- Done. Qst (talk) 19:22, 30 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
- I agree with Qst, you're striving for quality, not quantity. I don't see how Portal:Cuba is related to Florida. OhanaUnitedTalk page 19:12, 1 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
- Okay, removed. I actually add it because its the nearest country to Florida, but I was somewhat nervous about adding it to begin with. Qst (talk) 19:33, 1 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

- Comment. Nice clean layout, well-balanced columns. I felt that the introduction needed some more work; it reads a little oddly, and the second paragraph seems overly detailed and ends abruptly. A map of the US showing the position of Florida would be useful somewhere. Some of the pictures seemed too small at my screen resolution. As you have so many featured articles, you might consider removing those that lack a free image. Some very minor points. In the heading "Florida News", news should probably be lower case. Some of the blurbs could do with a light copy edit eg N rules, missing spaces, repeated words; I've corrected a few problems, but there are more than I have time to fix. The Miami Herald blurb contains several red links. Hope this is of assistance. Espresso Addict (talk) 15:55, 30 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
- Okay, I've done everything you listed above except for applying a light copyedit to a selection of the articles. Could you please specify which ones you feel need it, and I'll get right on it. Thanks for the review. Qst (talk) 19:18, 30 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
- I meant the blurbs, not the articles (which I haven't studied). The following in my opinion need major edits: Miami, Launch Complex 39, Pelican Island National Wildlife Refuge, and quite a lot of the biographies, which often have one general paragraph plus one paragraph on early childhood. These have one or more minor style issues only: Miami River, Fort Lauderdale, Hurricane Georges, Super Bowl XLI, Okeechobee Hurricane, Limp Bizkit, Clearwater, Mary Jane McLeod Bethune, Robert Bowden, Zora Neale Hurston, Jeordie Osborne White, Herbert Jackson Youngblood III, Stephen Orr Spurrier, Lawton Mainor Chiles, Jr., Donald John Trump. (It's a pity that the random portal system doesn't readily allow editing of these from the archive page, as most would be easier to fix than list!) Espresso Addict (talk) 20:08, 30 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
- Okay, I've copyedited all the articles and biographies you mentioned. I hope now you will be able to offer your support. Sorry for the late reply. Qst (talk) 17:24, 6 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

- I'm happy to support, though I think ideally the biography blurbs could do with more tailoring. Espresso Addict (talk) 20:02, 7 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
- I will see what else I can shortly. Qst (talk) 20:08, 7 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

- Comments
- The intro/lead could be modified to have rotating iconic images, like at Portal:Iceland, though this is not required. Cirt (talk) 23:23, 2 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
- Would you mind if I left this out? I've never really liked rotating images for some reason; so, if you wouldn't mind, I'd prefer to leave these. Qst (talk) 20:31, 6 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
- There's enough news content that the amount of selections displayed could be reduced to 5. Also, I would suggest changing the heading at that subsection from "Florida news" to simply "In the news" or "News". Cirt (talk) 23:23, 2 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
- I think we got this sorted out on IRC, but tweaking the news header to "In the news" = done. :-) Qst (talk) 17:24, 6 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
- Would it be possible to get 2 more panorama images, to bring it up to 10? Not required, but would be nice. Cirt (talk) 23:23, 2 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
- Done. Qst (talk) 20:31, 6 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
- "Exemplary content" is sort of an odd title, "Quality content" or something like that, would be better. Cirt (talk) 23:23, 2 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
- Done. Qst (talk) 17:24, 6 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
- Things you can do -- could use more wikilinks at the start of each suggestion, to help facilitate the process, Portal:Comedy has a well-maintained model for that. Cirt (talk) 23:23, 2 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
- Done. Qst (talk) 17:24, 6 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Everything else looks great. Really nice work. Cirt (talk) 23:23, 2 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
- I'll do the rest shortly. Qst (talk) 17:24, 6 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
- Okay, that's everything done; if I haven't stated otherwise directly below your comment. Qst (talk) 15:27, 7 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

- Looks good to be promoted, unless anyone else have any other comments?
