Self-nomination. See archived peer review. Stats: 5 rotating images in the Intro, 23 Selected articles, all WP:FAs, 11 Selected biographies, all WP:FAs, 18 Selected pictures, all WP:FPs, 20 sets of 3 DYK hooks, all with free-use images, 20 Selected quotes, all with free-use images, Updated news with Wikinews Importer Bot (talk · contribs), and a Rotating In this month section. Things you can do has a cleanup listing, a new feature from WolterBot (talk · contribs), as well as a link to notability concerns, thanks to WP:WPNN.
All of the above sections are randomized and display new content when the portal is purged. News updates automatically from Wikinews, using Wikinews Importer Bot. I believe the portal meets the standards for Featured Portal status.
Thanks to Sardanaphalus (talk · contribs) for help with Portal:Russia/Featured content and Portal:Russia/Russia topics. Cirt (talk) 03:55, 7 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
- Strong support- a very well structured and well formatted portal. Sushant gupta (talk) 12:36, 8 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
- Looks good. You know, you don't have to use FA for biographies and FP for pictures. I'm perfectly fine to accept any GA for biographies and any pictures with significance as long as the picture is not blurry or really under/over exposure into the portal. - I know - but if you use all Featured Content in a section you can label that section "Featured", otherwise it is best to just say "Selected" because otherwise it is sort of misleading. Cirt (talk) 19:23, 10 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Self-nomination. I have done a lot of work on Portal:Japan, and with the help of a couple of other editors, I think the portal is ready for a nomination. It currently has 37 selected articles (comprised of FAs, As and GAs) and 33 selected pictures (comprised of all of the Japan-related FP as well as many other great Japan pictures). Both of these are rotated randomly on the main page. The news section is automated by the bot. The DYK section is manually update with the featured Japan-related DYK articles and hooks that are featured on Wikipedia's main page. There is no selected biography component because there are only a few articles of a high enough quality that could fill the section, and those articles are very homogeneous. I would like there to be a quote section, but I cannot find a good reliable source of Japanese quotes, as WikiQuote is very, very limited and, again, homogeneous.
The geography tab is rather stagnant and very little updating is necessary. The one rotating component there is a Featured Prefecture section that is currently rotated by week. The projects tab features the Things-to-do component as well as a bit about WikiProject Japan and related projects and task forces. --TorsodogTalk 23:11, 26 August 2008 (UTC) [reply]

CommentSupport - This is really minor, but could the archive link for Did you know... and Selected quote be moved to the left side, with possibly a link to Wikipedia:Recent additions on Did you know...? Thanks, --Jh12 (talk) 05:12, 28 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
- Done! --TorsodogTalk 05:55, 28 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
