and picture.
- Currently 7 in each; daily rotation.
- Each links to parent or relevant article.
- Wikified and not too lengthy.
- Intro box picture is auto-rotational - 60 pics; 1 per minute.
- Automated random selected picture, GAs and DYKs.
- Wikimedia links.
- Categories tree.
- Related Projects and Portals.
- Related topics.
- Reading material.
- Related project FA/FL and A-class list.
- History {{military browsebar}} at top, subjects {{browsebar}} at bottom.
- Sub-pages are formatted for "see more" links to display neatly.

- Few short things, in depth later:
- Check for spelling
- If any Featured Pics are available that fit the portal pics guidelines (no fair-use images) than replace normal selected pic with them
- I'd suggest selected Naval/Land battle instead of the current layout, maybe "Other selected article" or "Selected weapon, ship etc."
- Remove selected GA's section and add into Quality content list.
- Consider DYK's in quality content, I'll provide a link that can help.
That about it..... for now. Buggie111 (talk) 02:45, 12 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
- There are no typos, afaik, Firefox has a built-in spell checker, which I use (plus I didn't type anything, it's mostly copy/paste).
- All the "selected pics" and portraits are old, painters died 70+ years, so are out of copyright. Most of the random intro box pics are old too.
- There are only 2 or 3 notable naval battles in the entire Napoleonic War - it's isn't worth having a separate box for so few, there would be nothing to rotate. Few of the naval action articles on Wiki have decent leads to use other than major ones.
- There are 113 GAs in the Napoleonic Era task force, and listing them all would be clutter. Random selection uses less space. If people want a full list of GAs there's a link for them to do so, in a table set-up especially. Plus each GA has its own page, which the random element selects from, and took a very long time to set up. I don't fancy nominating 113 pages for deletion, which would take hours, again.
- DYKs always have their own box on any portal.. not sure what "quality content" means, but the random method used is standard practice.

- I mean with the FA's and A"s, but now that you mention, that would just be more clutter. Buggie111 (talk) 03:29, 12 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
- Yeah, I already tried it – 113 items takes up a lot of room and doesn't really contribute anything. Moving forward, do you have any comments relative to the Featured portal criteria? Thanks, Ma®©usBritish [Chat • RFF] 03:52, 12 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Nicely done and quite useful. Support. Richard Harvey (talk) 13:25, 7 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I don't understand what you mean by "Automated rotating selected battle and biography" and anything related to automated rotation in general. It does not appear to auto-rotate when I view it. OhanaUnitedTalk page 03:11, 8 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
- There are 7 of each - they rotate daily - every 24 hours presents a new one. Wiki doesn't appear to have a nocache - for some boxes you need to purge to see new content. Picture has 1 per min, GA/DYK per reload. Ma®©usBritish [Chat • RFF] 08:35, 8 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
- When you mean "Intro box picture is auto-rotational - 60 pics; 1 per minute", did you mean the picture on the right (beneath the flag of France)? I tried Firefox 3.6 and 8.0. Both didn't demonstrate the auto-rotation once per minute. OhanaUnitedTalk page 12:53, 8 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
- Yes. As I said, wiki still caches portals so you need to "purge" every minute - reloading doesn't seem to work. Technical issue, beyond my hands afaik - all portals seem to be the same. I thought there was a __NOCACHE__ magic word. I was mistaken. Ma®©usBritish [Chat • RFF] 13:52, 8 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
