Original - Roscoe Conkling was a leader of the Republican party during the 1880 Republican National Convention. This political cartoon from that year depicts Conkling over various potential nominees as pieces of a sliding puzzle. The caption for the cartoon reads "15—14—13.—The Great Presidential Puzzle".
