Original - Highway 401 seen looking west from the Wellington Road overpass in London, Ontario, Canada after a thunderstorm. The Highway 402 interchange is seen in the distance, which is an important link for traffic bound for international boarder crossings. Highway 401 continues west to Windsor, Ontario and provides access to Detroit, Michigan. Highway 402 heads towards Sarnia, Ontario and connects directly with Port Huron, Michigan.
Alternate retouched version by Purpy Pupple (talk) 02:27, 11 December 2010 (UTC).[reply]
Reason
A simple, high quality image of a recently reconstructed highway. There is enough detail to see rumble strips at the bottom of the image yet there's enough clarity to see a highway interchange in the distance. The photograph also displays high mast lighting, paved shoulders, on/off ramps and merging points. The picture has a refreshing look to it as the photo was just taken after a thunderstorm pounded the area with heavy rainfall.

  • Comment Would colour enhancements help? I uploaded the original file so editing the picture would be easier. I appreciate the feedback guys! Haljackey (talk) 01:31, 11 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
    • Rarely would colour enhancements help a photo that is mostly grey. Anyhow, I still made a retouched version. Maybe you should try again when the sky looks more interesting! Also, try using a neutral density filter and taking a really long exposure so that all the cars turn into long streaks, just for fun. Purpy Pupple (talk) 02:27, 11 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
    • Wow! Really nice work with the retouch! I Support Alternate. Thanks for the tips too! Long exposure looks especially awesome at night. Haljackey (talk) 02:45, 11 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  • At this point I would like to Withdraw this nomination. The alternative is better and will replace the original photo. Thanks for the feedback! Perhaps I'll try out another time! Haljackey (talk) 01:11, 14 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
