- Comment – Correct me if I am wrong, but the images don't look significantly different to convey "mass power outages", as quoted from the lead sentence of the article. The set does convey some power outage, but not as significantly as has been reported, as far as I understand it. Bammesk (talk) 01:10, 22 February 2021 (UTC)

- Sure, it's fine at full size (although black-on-white is more readable regardless) but for optimal encyclopedic value it would also be easily understandable at somewhat smaller sizes in order to fit well in an encyclopedia article. (t · c) buidhe 04:55, 6 March 2021 (UTC)
- No, no, no. The FPC instructions for evaluating above state:
Prior to giving an opinion, the image should be assessed on its quality as displayed at full size (high-resolution)
. There's plenty of featured pictures that have text that is not legible at thumbnail size. And there's no requirement that it should be. Judge the image at full size. That's why we have resolution requirements. -- Veggies (talk) 05:39, 6 March 2021 (UTC)

- A white background doesn't work for the depiction (visualization) of probability densities. Because maximum probability would have to be dark and minimum probability white. It makes no sense visually-logically, also dark gradients don't render vividly as do bright gradients. The equation (which you critique for text size) is there for reference only. It's as relevant as a signature on a painting. Anyone interested in the equation will get it from the relevant article(s) text, not from the image. What's relevant is the title "Hydrogen Wave Function" which is legible even at thumbnail size. Bammesk (talk) 16:32, 7 March 2021 (UTC)

- Support oriignal, Strong oppose alt: There's very poor documentation, but what there is indicates this is probably a modern colouring of a black and white original. We have a notable version of this featured already - the Copy printed in "A Memoir of Jane Austen", and while we certainly could promote the sketch as the only copy actually drawn from life, of which the others are based, but take various liberties, we certainly can't promote an undocumented colourisation, which is arguably a potential copyvio. - Well done photo of surface supplied underwater diving, In a single frame it shows diver(s), riding stage, supply lines, ship and crew. Lead image in several articles including a featured article. The pixel count isn't high, but I think the encyclopedic value makes up for it. The cloud highlights are blown, but that's immaterial and almost impossible to control in a fast moving action shot (can't really do multiple exposure HDR, and a single exposure HDR would introduce underwater noise).

- Neutral - Meh. It's an interesting composition, theoretically, but it's a bit uninspiring in practice here. The upper half is distorted with droplets, and refraction through the wet parts of the lens. The sky is also washed out. The optics of this fisheye lens also works against it here. Notice the figure in the upper left and how distorted s/he is. Moving on to the divers, the picture is better, but, still: underwhelming. There isn't much dynamism in the divers—they're just standing around while being winched up/down. There also isn't anything in the underwater background. It's just a void. Personally, I feel that File:Ship wreck Carnatic 2017-04-22 Egypt-7947.jpg or File:U. S. Navy Petty Officer 2nd Class Kathleen Gorby conducts underwater photography training off the coast of Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, on April 19, 2013 130419-N-IZ904-042.jpg are better examples of higher-quality diving photos. -- Veggies (talk) 22:28, 16 March 2021 (UTC)

- About the top left corner, I don't think it's a person, zooming on it there are too many sharp lines and angles. Bammesk (talk) 03:23, 18 March 2021 (UTC)
- EV may have priority over artistic qualities, but it doesn't nullify them entirely. And I'm not altogether convinced this has any unique EV qualities that other, higher-quality images don't make up for. -- Veggies (talk) 19:02, 19 March 2021 (UTC)

- "Niche audience" is not a valid critique of any featured content (FA, FL, FP), that's not the measure in FP criteria, or any featured content criteria. Bammesk (talk) 15:25, 20 March 2021 (UTC)
- Au contraire, mon ami, it relates to EV. Besides which, my comment is a comment, not a vote. Thoughts are free, you know. – Sca (talk) 16:00, 20 March 2021 (UTC)
- Yes I know, you made a comment, so did I. FP criteria defines EV based on article usage only. We are an encyclopedia, we generate content solely based on notability. We don't generate content based on the interests of an audience (we are not a journal). Encyclopedias exist to satisfy specific inquiries, not interests of an audience. - Comment The background around the legs has a red cast, but the rest of the background is black, which is strange. It's easier to see if you turn your brightness up. Nosferattus (talk) 00:33, 23 March 2021 (UTC)
- Are you referring to the bleed-through where the red hairs look a bit hazy? Matt Deres (talk) 19:08, 23 March 2021 (UTC)
- Open the image in full screen (not full size) and crank up the screen brightness to maximum. It looks like a wide diffused halo around the legs (it's reddish or warm). Bammesk (talk) 02:16, 24 March 2021 (UTC)
- @Nosferattus: I see what you mean. Thanks for the hint. Fixed -- Basile Morin (talk) 11:52, 24 March 2021 (UTC)
