  • Comment. The 'restoration' has removed some type of studs from his hat and replaced them with 'bulletholes'. I'm 50/50 about the removal of the author's sig & date at the bottom, but removing those studs is definitely both a negative and a no-no. Could possibly do with some further scratch removal too. --jjron (talk) 12:20, 8 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose. I consider this an irresponsible retouching, and I'm tempted to revert it--an edit this major should be in a new file, not uploaded over the existing file. As jjron says, the studs have simply been removed, and I can't imagine why. Also, instead of repairing the background, the editor has simply blurred the whole thing, which creates a bokeh-style look that is not appropriate for the period. I see no particular reason to remove the signature. Chick Bowen 21:15, 8 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment: I've restored the original file and have uploaded the edit separately. I've changed the nominated image name so that it links to the edit. Maedin\talk 19:20, 14 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
