Original – Hendrik Merkus de Kock was a Dutch military general, minister, and senator. Active in the Dutch East Indies for numerous years, such was his impact that Bukittinggi was named Fort de Kock during much of the colonial era. Twas he who conquered Palembang, and he who caught Diponegoro
