- Comment: Could the edits to File:Ernest Hemingway in Milan 1918 retouched.jpg be stated, as opposed to being summarized as "cleaned up"? I mean something like: "scratches removed, rotated 2 degrees clockwise, levels ajusted, cropped", etc. SpencerT♦Nominate! 03:24, 4 June 2010 (UTC)
- I have contacted the editor.--TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 03:28, 4 June 2010 (UTC)
- Now added, great. Can the thread/white hair on the subject's left elbow be removed as well? SpencerT♦Nominate! 02:58, 5 June 2010 (UTC)
- I have contacted the editor on this issue too. If he does not respond within 48 hours, I will make a request at the photo lab.--TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 14:00, 5 June 2010 (UTC)

- I believe this is an image from the JFK Libra
- I changed "Cleaned up" to "Removed scratches and dust". --Beao 14:08, 4 June 2010 (UTC)
- This is one of the images from the JFK Library Hemingway Archives. These must be attributed to the JFK Library. Am looking for the relevant page at the moment and will post as soon as I find it. Thanks. Truthkeeper88 (talk) 14:51, 4 June 2010 (UTC)
- The photographs must be credited to the JFK Library. Thanks. Truthkeeper88 (talk) 14:59, 4 June 2010 (UTC)
- That is not a legal requirement- it would, however, be a strong addition to our image page. J Milburn (talk) 16:25, 4 June 2010 (UTC)
- Legal requirement or not attributing the image source is always the right thing to do, especially when the source is distinguished enough to add weight to the image. Cat-five - talk 22:02, 4 June 2010 (UTC)
- The source was already attributed. As I said, that extra information would be a good addition, but was not necessary by law or even by our guidelines. You're making a mountain out of a molehill here, and, as I'm sure many would readily attest, I'm normally the first to complain about this kind of sourcing/licensing concern. - Support very nice image, good ev. Cat-five - talk 22:02, 4 June 2010 (UTC)
- My support comes with the strong caveat that this must be properly sourced to be a valid image nomination. Cat-five - talk 17:31, 5 June 2010 (UTC)
- I was asked for my opinion on attribution. The image need not be attributed, either on the image page or in the article, because it is public domain in the US due to its copyright being expired (and/or being a work of a US Federal Government agent). However, it is of course good practice to do so. Stifle (talk) 09:03, 5 June 2010 (UTC)
- There is still a large white hair near his left elbow. ww2censor (talk) 13:06, 5 June 2010 (UTC)

Hemingway wasn't in the army so the description should be changed as well.Truthkeeper88 (talk) 13:21, 5 June 2010 (UTC)- The stray white hair has been removed and further reduction of dust and scratches. Fallschirmjäger ✉ 10:43, 7 June 2010 (UTC)
- Support Image has significant EV, good contrast and balanced lighting, ticks all 8 boxes for me. Easily the best depiction of Hemingway. Fallschirmjäger ✉ 14:13, 7 June 2010 (UTC)
- It seems rather underexposed, especially at the bottom. Adam Cuerden (talk) 19:12, 8 June 2010 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Adam Cuerden (talk • contribs)
- I've uploaded a new version with the bottom part of the image having an increased constrast. Fallschirmjäger ✉ 22:00, 8 June 2010 (UTC)
- Support retouched 2: When I was in school my best friend and I were enamoured with Ernest Hemingway and pasted pictures of him to our textbook covers. Seven years on and my tastes haven't changed, :) Portrait does have some minor issues, but it's been retouched okay and I think its EV, age, and irreplaceability compensate.
