Hey all, taking a break from all the genre fiction award lists to jump back to video games. This is the list of all Dragon Quest media, patterned after the List of Final Fantasy media FL I helped with and the List of Final Fantasy video games FL I wrote. As the second-most popular Square Enix franchise after Final Fantasy, I've wanted to do this for a while, but for "some reason" I didn't. Well, you all can now see why it took me so long: the list encompasses over 30 games on multiple systems each, five movies/anime series, dozens and dozens of books and manga series (generally spread over multiple volumes as is the norm in Japan) and over 90 albums of music - the vast majority of all of which have never been released outside of Japan. This is the only English-language comprehensive guide to all the nonsense released for this franchise over the last 26 years, and I hope it meets the standard! *Comments from Crisco 1492 Per WP:ISBN we should use 13-digit numbers. This will help. Double check for places where you've used hyphens instead of dashes, I've seen at least one. The overviews of the games are all uncited (video board games, etc.). Not particularly keen on the non-free logo, as it is tiny and thus rather jarring as used. If there were an infobox or something, okay, but it looks weird when there are only three lines indented. Dragon Quest III Game Book: ISBN 4-900527-04-2 is returning a checksum error. Its first game premiered in Japan in 1986, and Dragon Quest games have subsequently been localized for markets in North America, Europe and Australia, on over a dozen video game consoles since its debut on the Nintendo Entertainment System. - I'd put NES near the bit about the first game (both are about the debut) Dragon Quest is Square Enix's second most successful franchise behind the Final Fantasy franchise, having sold over 58 million units worldwide to date. It has been cited as the most popular video game franchise in Japan. - You may want to qualify the first sentence with "internationally" then. In addition to traditional role-playing games, the series includes first-person adventure games, portable games, massively multiplayer online role-playing games, and games for mobile phones. - This is still related to media, perhaps have this near your description on over a dozen video game consoles? Nothing in the lede about how Dragon Quest media is almost all exclusively Japanese? Comments "and his studio, Armor Project, and" too many uses of "and", would suggest replacing the final "and" with "being" Fixed. Avoid bold links in the table per WP:ACCESS There is nothing in ACCESS about avoiding bold links in tables, or in DTT- rowheaders in tables even bold the first row by default, linked or no, and the title of the video game is the first row in the table. Tables don't meet WP:ACCESS or WP:DTT for scope rows and cols or table captions Urgh, I'll see if I can modify the templates to work. As to table captions, though, each table has at minimum its own section header and sometimes its own paragraph of description- a table caption would be superfluous. Alright, turns out I'm a wizard. Both {{Video game table}} (the games) and {{Video game titles}} (the books/movies) and their subtemplates, {{Video game table item}} and {{Video game titles/item}} have been updated to have row and column headers while retaining the same look in all their various varieties (VG titles has a whole section that's optional), except that VG titles now has a heading row, which it was lacking before. Comments "Its first game premiered..." I would say "The first game of the series premiered...." Done. "It has been cited as the most" by whom? And what does "most popular" mean in this context? Most sales? Best in a survey? Cited the (now 3) sources, though none of them define what they mean so I changed to direct quotes. No need to capitalise mobile phone in the tables. Done. Not keen on the bold italic linked text. Just italic would suffice. Changed the template to unbold. For PlayStation, shouldn't you link to the specific console, e.g. PlayStation (console)? Yes, done. Complete sentences in the tables should end with a full stop. Added when needed, or changed to not be full sentences. If the releases are notable enough to be included in this table, why do some not have articles, or at least why aren't they redlinked here? "notable enough to be included in this table", in this case, means "exists" - I tried very hard to include every single piece of media ever created for the DQ series. As far as video games go, for the ones that aren't linked it's because they are wrapped up into a single series article (Itadaki Street, Dragon Quest: Monster Battle Road) or just haven't had an article made yet, for those two I've now redlinked. "Dragon Quest & Final Fantasy in Itadaki Street Special" for consistency you need to relink the PS2 here. Done. Arcade game doesn't need a capital A. Done. No reason for Books and manga section to have larger font. Agreed, changed the template (that one's used more widely than the one I used for video games, so we'll see if it sticks.) • I don't see how a non-free logo image can be justified for this list as opposed to the main article, where it has a better case. Not having it certainly doesn't detract from readers' understanding, so it fails the non-free content criteria. There's no law saying an FL must have images, and none would be better than a faulty non-free one.
• Ref 19 should be after punctuation, not before, and "and" should be added after the comma here.
• All caps in refs 43 and 58 need fixing. Giants2008 (Talk) 18:27, 4 December 2012 (UTC)
