Required lessons
[edit]While each trainer and each student will have different levels of interest and different lessons based on which tools and techniques will be used, it is important that each graduate understands and can effectively perform each of these essential tasks:
- How to identify vandalism (and what is not vandalism)
- How to restore the pre-vandalized version of the article
- How to appropriately use warning templates (including their substitution)
- How to report persistent vandals
Responsibilities
[edit]Trainers are responsible for:
- Building a relationship of trust with your student
- Ensuring the student has read and understands the relevant policies
- Using correct edit summaries.
- Maintaining checks on reverts of vandalism and good faith edits and only warning users where applicable. Comment on both the student and incorrectly warned user about the incorrect reverts.
- Ensuring that up-to-date policies and guidelines are taught.
Requesting tool access
[edit]The developer of the STiki counter vandalism tool informed may entertain special requests on Wikipedia talk:STiki for their students to have access to the tool. The developer's decision is final. If the request is approved, instructors need to continually monitor their student's use of the tool and make comments where necessary.
